This role supports the Center for Educational Performance and Information (CEPI) database environment, primarily for the Statewide Longitudinal Data System (SLDS) modernization with the Common Education Data Standards (CEDS). The environment includes multiple SQL Server instances and collection environments, numerous SQL Reporting Services servers, more than 35 collection databases, and more than 100 analysis databases. The Database Administrator serves as the subject matter expert for the CEPI SLDS data warehouse, using independent judgment to direct and coordinate data administration and management practices, procedures, and tools. The role requires Microsoft SQL Server support expertise and professional knowledge of CEDS. It contributes to strategic and tactical information design, business-area analysis, security, and data modeling for data collection needs, including transitioning ETL processes from on-premises systems to cloud servers. The position also helps ensure architectural frameworks are implemented and enforced and monitors and upgrades the supporting server infrastructure. This is a one-year contract assignment, with an extension likely. It is a hybrid role requiring two days in the office in Lansing, Michigan, and is limited to candidates located within 90–100 miles of Lansing at the time of submission. Candidates must be available for an in-person interview; the initial interview is virtual, and a second in-person round may occur.
