About The Position
HHSC is seeking an experienced Database Administrator III to support enterprise applications in a cloud-based Agile environment. The selected candidate will be responsible for database administration, performance tuning, migration, security, disaster recovery, and high availability across Oracle and Azure SQL databases. This role also includes supporting Oracle-to-Azure SQL migrations while collaborating with application development teams.
Requirements
- 10+ years of database administration experience.
- 8+ years working with Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server (or equivalent RDBMS).
- Strong experience in Database design and administration
- Strong experience in Performance tuning and optimization
- Strong experience in Relational database management
- Strong experience in Enterprise application support
- Strong experience in Technical documentation
- Strong experience in Agile/Scrum software development lifecycle
- Strong experience in Multi-tier application architectures (SOA, Microservices, 3-tier)
Nice To Haves
- Experience with Azure SQL and Azure cloud services.
- Experience with ETL processes and Azure SQL data migration.
- Knowledge of DevOps tools, Git, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Java/J2EE development experience.
- Experience with high availability, disaster recovery, and large-scale databases.
- Azure or DBA certifications are a plus.
Responsibilities
- Administer, maintain, and optimize Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server databases.
- Perform database performance tuning, indexing, troubleshooting, and optimization.
- Design, maintain, and enhance logical and physical data models.
- Migrate databases from Oracle to Azure SQL, including stored procedures and functions.
- Implement backup, recovery, disaster recovery, replication, clustering, and high availability solutions.
- Develop and maintain database security, user access, and data integrity.
- Support ETL processes and Azure SQL data loading.
- Work closely with Java Full-Stack development teams in an Agile (Scrum) environment.
- Perform database installations, upgrades, patching, monitoring, and health checks.
- Create technical documentation and participate in solution design discussions.
- Support CI/CD and DevOps deployment processes.
