This position involves the planning, development, maintenance, and monitoring of integrated database systems, ensuring consistency between application design and database structure. The role requires evaluating user requests for new data elements, incorporating them into the existing data environment, and providing technical assistance. Key responsibilities include coordinating data usage for integrity and redundancy control, loading and reorganizing databases, performing data modeling (logical and physical), designing relational models, and creating physical models from logical ones. The DBA will also manage security recovery procedures, determine database search strategies and storage requirements, maintain the data dictionary, monitor database performance, and recommend improvements. A crucial aspect is creating and managing test database environments, including necessary libraries and procedures. The role also involves executing procedures for saving, retrieving, and recovering databases from failures, assisting with database security standards, monitoring disaster recovery procedures, and supporting the installation and analysis of database software. Additionally, the DBA will aid in benchmarking, threshold testing, and establishing database security, as well as in selecting database management software. A working knowledge of EIR Accessibility standards and assistive technologies is required, ensuring user interfaces are compliant and providing support for data access when accessibility issues arise.
