The Database Administrator 4 role provides operational support for databases from development to mission-critical production implementations in both On-Prem and AWS Cloud environments. This position involves coordinating, designing, and configuring database structures and communication links across multiple database platforms to ensure high availability and minimal downtime. The administrator will independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real-time, providing resolution for database-related incidents and requests. Responsibilities also include implementing database performance metrics, monitoring database performance (memory, CPU), assisting developers with query tuning and schema refinement, and analyzing existing systems to recommend appropriate technologies for high availability, disaster recovery, and high performance. The role requires performing switchover and failover activities, planning and implementing database migrations from On-prem to AWS EC2, creating and managing policies for S3 buckets, analyzing archive requirements, and implementing data archival processes. Defining backup and recovery strategies using Idera SQLSafe or Native SQL Server Backup/recovery, performing full database/PTR recoveries, and ensuring proper database security standards are followed in collaboration with application owners/developers are also key duties. Additionally, the administrator will apply patches and upgrades to databases regularly for security compliance, and develop/maintain documentation on database inventory and capacity utilization. Participation in on-call rotations for after-hours support, including scheduled maintenance, application deployments, and hardware/software upgrades, is expected.
