About The Position

The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency is seeking a Database Administration Specialist 2 for its Office of Information Technology Services in Columbus, Ohio. Requirements

  • 60 months combined work experience in any combination of the following: conducting performance tuning and configuration, creating data models, and providing technical Tier II database support, including 12 months work experience in the primary technology specified by the agency.
  • Associate core program in computer science or information systems; AND 42 months combined work experience in any combination of the following: conducting performance tuning and configuration, creating data models, and providing technical Tier II database support, including 12 months work experience in the primary technology specified by the agency.
  • Undergraduate core program in computer science or information systems; AND 36 months combined work experience in any combination of the following: conducting performance tuning and configuration, creating data models, and providing technical Tier II database support, including 12 months work experience in the primary technology specified by the agency.
  • Equivalent of minimum class qualifications for employment.
  • Experience in the required, primary technology listed in the position description & job posting.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct performance tuning and configuration of DBMS systems running on a single platform.
  • Design and maintain various versions of data models.
  • Participate in the Change Review board.
  • Create Entity Relation Diagrams (ERD) and conduct data normalization.
  • Write platform-specific code.
  • Perform data migrations.
  • Monitor business processes and warehouse processes.
  • Report on business intelligence.
  • Research product enhancements and capabilities.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies.
  • Work closely with clients, business analysts, and software development staff to define and resolve information flow and content issues.
  • Develop knowledge of principles, theories, practices, and techniques for project planning.
  • Answer questions and present to peers and staff.
