About The Position

This position provides database design, development, content management and administration support for MBCC’s database hosting services and to assist with deployment of state standard database technology, Euna Grants Management System, Juvenile Detention Data and Reporting System, Board Member Web Access System, and MBCC’s web environment using Cascade, a web-based content management system. The duties typically involve creating and configuring production content for databases using established procedures, database development, backup and recovery strategies, technical support, and software patch management and maintenance of relational database systems for mission-critical operations. This includes configuring database content parameters; modifying database content environments through coding, testing, and implementation; and running test programs to validate functionality and correct errors. Duties also include planning and implementing database content security measures, managing user access and permissions, and ensuring data security protocols are in place and functioning. The position involves making strategic decisions about database design, maintenance and tuning, as well as diagnosing and troubleshooting complex content issues, monitoring database performance, and performing performance tuning. The Data Systems Analyst also installs content upgrades and patches and supports user needs by extracting data and responding to content requests using existing tools. As agency priorities dictate, the Data Systems Analyst must be able to carry out any assignment in the section with minimal retraining and may be assigned responsibility for project components.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a computer science related field.
  • Two years’ experience working in a variety of database environments.
  • Knowledge of system content performance optimization and management techniques.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of information systems analysis, design, implementation, maintenance, and security related functions.
  • Ability to provide exceptional customer service and enjoy working in a team environment.
  • Ability to build trust and credibility in constructing effective working relationships with a variety of individuals.
  • Ability to manage varying deadlines and multiple projects; responding positively to changes in direction, priorities, responsibilities or assignment.

Nice To Haves

  • Specific experience in Relational database management systems (RDMS) such MS SQL Server or Oracle.
  • Experience in database administration, content management, automation, business rule enforcement, web design and development, and performance optimization techniques.
  • Experience with 508 compliance measures and implementation strategies.
