The Data Steward II provides data governance expertise, business leadership, and leads on day-to-day data governance and activities. Appointed as a Data Steward for their business, providing oversight and challenge for data-related activities. May also play a role in supporting the business' data strategy. This is a highly seasoned professional role requiring substantial knowledge and expertise in a complex field and knowledge of broader related areas. It integrates knowledge of the enterprise sub-function’s or business line’s overarching strategy in developing solutions across multiple functions or operations. The role interprets internal/external business challenges and the industry environment, recommends course of action and best practices to improve products, processes, or services. It acts as a technical expert/lead integrating cross-function understanding within their own field of specialty and may manage teams of related specialists. The role leads cross-functional teams or projects with significant resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity, and independently manages end-to-end functional programs. It solves complex problems or leads others to solve them, and leads efforts or partners with others to develop new solutions using sophisticated analytical thought to exercise judgment and identify solutions. The work impacts the achievement of sub-function or business line objectives within the area of accountability and is guided by policies and industry standards/methods. The role communicates difficult concepts, converts information to compelling business context and advice, and influences and gains alignment across increasingly senior stakeholders. It works autonomously as the lead and guides others within the area of expertise. The Data Steward II identifies, measures, and monitors current and emerging data-related risks in day-to-day activities, operations, products, and services within the Business, to ensure activities are within TD's Risk Appetite and policies. They govern and provide oversight of data under their stewardship, acting as a focal point for data governance within the Line of Business. They ensure their Line of Business (LOB) adheres to data-related policies, standards, and meets requirements set out by the Enterprise Data and Information Management Policy and Standards. They design, implement, and maintain LOB-specific processes, templates, and appropriate mitigating controls to support enterprise data policy and standards and ensure effective management and control of LOB data. They ensure data-related activities are compliant with applicable laws and regulations. They provide 1st line oversight and challenge of LOB data management activities, including metadata and data quality management, data retention and disposition within BAU processes, projects, programs, and change initiatives. They escalate data risks and issues and provide advice and support to business owners in the development and implementation of action plans for issue resolution. They work in partnership with control partners (i.e., Technology Risk Management, Legal, Privacy, Office of the Chief Data Officer (OCDO), LOB First Line of Defense partners, etc.) to protect the Bank's data assets. They deliver training, tools, and advice to support the governance and oversight of data and support and help define the Line of Business data strategy. They promote a strong data risk management culture.
