About The Position

Pinterest is seeking a Data Scientist to help evolve and shape the future of its product. This role involves inspiring Pinners, connecting them with actionable content, understanding advertisers and measuring the value Pinterest provides to them, and enabling employees to evaluate potential product changes faster. The Data Scientist will apply quantitative analysis, statistical techniques, modeling, and data mining while collaborating cross-functionally with engineering and product partners. The work will influence the team roadmap, identify product opportunities, refine the experimentation platform, and drive key initiatives, translating insights into real-world products. This role is open across various data science teams and is suitable for candidates excited about AI's role as a partner in augmenting creativity and amplifying impact.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in statistics, mathematics, economics, applied sciences, computer science or related field.
  • Ability to manipulate large data sets with high dimensionality and complexity.
  • Fluency in SQL and a scripting language (Python or R).
  • Experience solving analytical problems using quantitative approaches including in the fields of Machine Learning, Statistical Modeling, Forecasting, Econometrics or other related fields.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain learnings to both technical and non-technical partners.
  • Strong critical thinking when working with AI-generated suggestions, with a clear approach to validating correctness, performance, security, and maintainability.
  • Ability to connect data analysis to real business problems, in order to impact business performance.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the product roadmap and mission using data and exploratory analysis to understand user behavior and trends, and identify opportunities for product innovation.
  • Design and implement core metrics that guide team efforts.
  • Design and evaluate A/B experiments that drive key metrics.
  • Explore alternative experimentation techniques to help internal teams evaluate their ideas faster.
  • Build and communicate key insights cross-functionally.
  • Collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, designers, and researchers to build the next experiences on Pinterest.
