About The Position

Amazon Publisher Services (APS) helps digital publishers around the world build and grow thriving businesses by providing services and advanced technologies. Our server-side header bidding solutions are fast and reliable across devices, handling billions of queries per day and delivering ads in milliseconds, resulting in more profitable advertising for publishers and more relevant ads for customers. As a Data Scientist on this team, you will solve real-world problems by analyzing large amounts of data, identifying business insights and opportunities, designing simulations and experiments, developing statistical and ML models tailored to business needs, and collaborating with Scientists, Engineers, BIEs, and Product Managers. You will write code (Python, R, Scala, etc.) to analyze data and build statistical models, apply statistical and machine learning knowledge to business problems, build decision-making models, and retrieve, synthesize, and present critical data. You will also analyze historical data to identify trends, formalize assumptions about system behavior, develop methods to identify outliers, and deep dive into anomalies to explain their causes and define fixes. Additionally, you will conduct presentations to share insights with diverse audiences.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of data querying languages (e.g. SQL), scripting languages (e.g. Python) or statistical/mathematical software (e.g. R, SAS, Matlab, etc.) experience
  • 4+ years of data scientist experience
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience with statistical models e.g. multinomial logistic regression

Nice To Haves

  • 4+ years of data scientist or similar role involving data extraction, analysis, statistical modeling and communication experience
  • 2+ years of data visualization using AWS QuickSight, Tableau, R Shiny, etc. experience
  • Experience managing data pipelines
  • Experience as a leader and mentor on a data science team
  • 4+ years of data science experience in ad tech (supply or demand side)

Responsibilities

  • Solve real-world problems by getting and analyzing large amounts of data, diving deep to identify business insights and opportunities, design simulations and experiments, developing statistical and ML models by tailoring to business needs, and collaborating with Scientists, Engineers, BIE's, and Product Managers.
  • Write code (Python, R, Scala, etc.) to analyze data and build statistical models to solve specific business problems.
  • Apply statistical and machine learning knowledge to specific business problems and data.
  • Build decision-making models and propose solution for the business problem you define.
  • Retrieve, synthesize, and present critical data in a format that is immediately useful to answering specific questions or improving system performance.
  • Analyze historical data to identify trends and support optimal decision making.
  • Formalize assumptions about how our systems are expected to work, create statistical definition of the outlier, and develop methods to systematically identify outliers. Work out why such examples are outliers and define if any actions needed.
  • Given anecdotes about anomalies or generate automatic scripts to define anomalies, deep dive to explain why they happen, and identify fixes.
  • Conduct written and verbal presentations to share insights to audiences of varying levels of technical sophistication.

Benefits

  • health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, Basic Life & AD&D insurance and option for Supplemental life plans, EAP, Mental Health Support, Medical Advice Line, Flexible Spending Accounts, Adoption and Surrogacy Reimbursement coverage)
  • 401(k) matching
