About The Position

We are currently looking for a Data Scientist to join our team. This role supports Product Safety (PSE) with a focus on safety and regulatory field data and is responsible for delivering advanced analytics and predictive solutions that drive data‑informed decisions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field; or equivalent practical experience in data analytics or data science.
  • 5+ years of experience in data analysis, data science, or analytics, including building and maintaining predictive or statistical models.
  • Strong proficiency in statistical analysis, machine learning methods, and predictive modeling techniques.
  • Experience using SQL and relational databases, along with data preparation, cleansing, and transformation techniques.
  • Ability to write functional code using R and/or Python.
  • Ability to analyze data, uncover trends, translate insights into business recommendations, and communicate findings effectively.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills with both technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Infrequent day or overnight travel as required.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Analytics, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Project leadership experience preferred.
  • Experience working with big data platforms such as Snowflake and cloud‑based data environments.
  • Advanced knowledge and prior use of R & Python is preferred.
  • Familiarity with visualization tools such as Tableau or similar platforms.
  • Prior experience supporting supply chain, logistics, or automotive business functions.
  • Experience mentoring analysts or contributing to enterprise data literacy initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, deploy, and maintain advanced statistical, machine learning, and predictive models to solve complex business problems using structured and unstructured data.
  • Partner with business stakeholders, IS/IT, and subject matter experts to understand objectives, identify relevant data sources, and define analytics requirements and solutions.
  • Interface with data engineering and IT teams to support data pipelines, data curation, certification, and sourcing of enterprise data products.
  • Design experiments, perform hypothesis testing, and monitor model performance, including rapid prototyping and proof‑of‑concept development.
  • Identify new data science and analytics use cases that address business needs and implement solutions in collaboration with internal teams and vendors.
  • Clearly communicate insights, project status, risks, and recommendations to leadership and stakeholders across varying technical levels.
  • Ensure analytics solutions comply with regulatory, data security, and governance standards.
  • Perform other related duties of which the above are representative as necessary.
  • Partner with other Data Scientists & analysts across Nissan for enterprise data literacy.
  • Lead and mentor Data Analysts and citizen Data Scientists.
