About The Position

The Lazard AI and Data Group brings together data scientists, data engineers, AI engineers, and software engineers to develop advanced AI and data-driven solutions that enhance decision-making across Lazard’s Financial Advisory and Asset Management businesses. The team delivers practical insights and technology that support client engagements, strengthen strategic partnerships, and help the firm remain competitive and efficient in a rapidly evolving financial landscape. Operating as Lazard’s internal innovation engine, the group identifies opportunities to improve business processes through technology and develops solutions from end to end—from concept development and design through deployment, performance analysis, and continuous iteration. The Data Scientist Summer Intern at Lazard will work within the AI & Data Team. The primary responsibility is to help analyze large-scale data sets in finance and extract insights that add value to the business. The Data Science Summer Intern will have the opportunity to work closely with data scientists, investment bankers, portfolio managers and senior management across the Firm. We’re all-in on the cloud and are a leader in the adoption of new technologies. Successful candidates should have a strong quantitative background, including solid statistical modeling skills and hands-on programming experience.

Requirements

  • Ability to start internship June 7, 2027 and end August 13, 2027
  • Ability to be in NYC for the duration of the internship
  • A Bachelors or advanced degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Quantitative Finance, Business Analytics, or equivalent.
  • Strong programming skills in Python.
  • Excellent knowledge of machine learning algorithms and strong statistical/econometric modeling skills.
  • Ability to query and analyze data from large-scale databases.
  • Experience with data visualization and communicating technical results to a non-technical audience.
  • Familiar with large language model (LLM) frameworks.
  • The ability to work both independently and as a team player.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with object-oriented programming preferred.
  • Prior experience in big data engineering preferred.
  • Strong interest or previous experience in finance preferred.
