About The Position

HDR is hiring a Data Scientist Intern for Summer 2027. The internship offers real-world experience on projects, mentoring and opportunities to connect with recent graduates and company leaders. Under direct supervision of a Department Manager, Section Manager, or other professionals, the intern will contribute to data science projects involving exploratory data analysis, feature engineering, model development, and training. The intern will also develop data and generative AI solutions, including chatbots and geospatial and geotechnical search facilities, using open-source and commercial software such as Snowflake and Azure AI services.

Requirements

• Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program.
• Attention to detail.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Basic Microsoft Office skills.
• Commitment to actively participating in HDR's employee-owned culture.

Nice To Haves

• Currently pursuing a degree in Software Engineering, Software Development, Computer Science, Data Science, Data Analytics, or a related field.
• Two years completed toward the degree and a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Demonstrated knowledge of software packages related to the field of study or industry.
• Local candidate preferred.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to data science projects involving exploratory data analysis, feature engineering, model development, and training.
• Develop data and generative AI solutions, including chatbots and geospatial and geotechnical search facilities.
• Work with open-source and commercial software such as Snowflake and Azure AI services.
• Perform assignments under the direct supervision of a Department Manager, Section Manager, or other professionals.
• Participate in mentoring and young professionals programs and connect with recent graduates and company leaders.
