About The Position

Cloudflare is seeking a Data Scientist Intern for Summer 2026 to join their Austin team. This role involves extracting insights from large datasets to drive business decisions. Interns will collaborate with experienced data scientists and machine learning engineers on real-world challenges in natural language processing (NLP) and AI development. The Data Intelligence & Analytics team builds a unified data & ML platform to provide actionable analytics, insights, and recommendations to internal Business Partners and Product teams, aiming to democratize data & intelligence and support critical business needs.

Requirements

B.S. or M.S in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or other quantitative fields
Experience working with programming languages such as Python, SQL or Javascript
Knowledge of machine learning algorithms, statistical modeling and LLMs
Excellent communication & problem solving skills
Ability to collaborate with cross functional teams and work through ambiguous business requirements
Ability to commit to a 12 week summer internship
In office 3-5 days a week in Austin, TX

Nice To Haves

Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform or something similar
Familiarity with container based deployments such as Docker & Kubernetes
Experience with JavaScript, Typescript, and React

Responsibilities

Develop and deploy predictive models to drive business outcomes
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement data-driven solutions
Work with large datasets to extract insights and inform business decisions
Work on data preprocessing/parsing strategies to make it LLM ready
Rapidly test new frameworks such as AI agents, RAG, NL2SQL, etc in the Generative AI domain
Support the evaluation and benchmarking of LLM performance across various tasks and metrics
Continuously involved in knowledge sharing and mentorship
