Sentar•Fort Meade, MD

About The Position

Sentar is seeking a Data Scientist 3 in Maryland to develop and sustain analytics tools using computer science expertise. The role requires proficiency in Python, GM, and the customer toolset. The Data Scientist applies mathematical, computational, and statistical foundations; data management and curation; data description and visualization; reproducible workflows; and data modeling, assessment, and prediction. They use analytic modeling, statistical analysis, programming, and other appropriate scientific methods to develop and implement qualitative and quantitative approaches for exploring and assessing large datasets, including datasets with varying degrees of organization, cleanliness, and structure and the distinctive features and limitations of National Agency data holdings. The role also translates mission needs and analytic questions about large datasets into technical requirements, helps others draw appropriate conclusions from analyses, and communicates complex technical information to non-technical audiences. The position requires an active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph. Candidates need a qualifying bachelor's degree and relevant experience, or an associate degree with additional experience may be considered for candidates with deeply related experience. A broader range of degrees may be considered with a data science certificate from an accredited college or university.

  • Relevant experience in one or more of machine learning, data science, advanced analytical algorithms, programming, statistical analysis, data management, data mining, data modeling and assessment, artificial intelligence, or software engineering.
  • Programming skill in at least one high-level language, such as Python.
  • Proficiency in Python, GM, and the customer toolset.
  • Capability in at least two skill areas among mathematical, computational, or statistical foundations; data processing; and modeling, inference, or prediction.
  • Ability to draw and communicate principal conclusions from data using mathematics, statistics, computer science, and application-specific knowledge.
