About The Position
The Data Science Summer Internship Program is an 11-week opportunity for aspiring data scientists to grow their knowledge and skills in areas such as GenAI, machine learning, and various modeling techniques and software. Interns will work independently and as part of a team to research, gather, and analyze data, build or enhance models, and recommend solutions that impact business decisions. This internship may serve as a first step toward a career at Liberty Mutual, a leading property and casualty insurer and a global Fortune 100 company. Interns often transition into full-time data scientist roles at the Boston Headquarters. Candidates are encouraged to apply promptly as the role may be unposted once a sufficient number of candidates are received, with interviews and offers extended on a rolling basis.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a master’s degree in Statistics, Data Science, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related discipline
- 0-2 years of professional experience
- Intermediate experience with programming languages such as Python or R
- Foundational knowledge of statistical analysis concepts, techniques, and tools
- Demonstrated experience with exploratory data analysis, regression analysis, and model development and evaluation through coursework and/or internships
- Strong communication, analytical, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills
- Permanent work authorization in the United States
