About The Position

Canva is seeking a Data Science Manager to lead and coach a team of four data scientists focused on Go-To-Market (GTM) sales challenges. This role is ideal for someone energized by B2B SaaS sales motions, fluent in sales metrics, and experienced in leading teams through ambiguity. The position requires a balance of strategic thinking and hands-on technical work, involving shaping analytical narratives for executives and debugging queries with team members. The successful candidate will be a confident communicator, able to build trust with senior commercial leaders, and an empathetic coach dedicated to developing their team. The role is focused on coaching data scientists responsible for the analytical backbone of Canva's B2B Sales and Customer Success teams, covering areas from pipeline generation to churn risk modeling. The manager will set team priorities, manage the roadmap in collaboration with Sales, CS, Marketing, and RevOps leaders, and champion the use of AI for scaling impact and enabling self-serve analytics. This includes representing the team's work to senior stakeholders, providing actionable feedback to coachees, and raising the bar on data product development.

Requirements

  • Multiple years of data science or analytics experience in a B2B SaaS, growth, or GTM context.
  • Experience in coaching or formally leading others.
  • Strong technical foundation across SQL (Snowflake or equivalent), data modeling (dbt or equivalent), and a modern BI tool (Mode, Looker, or similar).
  • Comfortable diving in alongside the team to debug queries when needed.
  • Track record of shipping data products that materially shifted how a Sales or CS organisation operated (e.g., account or opportunity scoring, forecasting models, pipeline analytics, or health scoring).
  • Ability to communicate complex analytical concepts with clarity, translating them into business decisions for senior commercial leaders.
  • Genuine curiosity about how AI is reshaping data and analytics work.
  • A genuine coaching mindset and a real interest in growing data scientists.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in or close to a B2B SaaS sales motion.
  • Ability to speak fluently about pipeline, ARR, NDR, and forecasting.
  • Experience leading or coaching small teams through ambiguity.

Responsibilities

  • Coach four data scientists who own the analytical backbone of Canva's B2B Sales and Customer Success teams.
  • Set the team's priorities and roadmap in close partnership with Sales, CS, Marketing, and RevOps leaders.
  • Balance the urgent against the important and push back when the team is being pulled in too many directions.
  • Lead the analytical roadmap for key GTM initiatives including pipe gen and full-funnel reporting, opportunity and account health scoring, sales forecasting, and the build-out of a product-led sales motion.
  • Raise the bar on craft, helping the team move beyond ad-hoc analysis into productionised models, semantic layers, and durable data products.
  • Champion the team's use of AI to scale impact, both automating action on signals and standing up self-serve analytics surfaces.
  • Represent the team's work to senior stakeholders, including QBRs and forecast reviews, translating complex analyses into decision-ready narratives.
  • Grow each coachee through actionable feedback, stretch opportunities, and a clear point of view on their craft's direction.
