Data Science Intern

Amida Technology Solutions, DC
Hybrid

About The Position

Amida Technology Solutions is a DC-based technology company focused on data interoperability, integrity, governance, and security. We create solutions that collect, reconcile, transform, and standardize data for business intelligence, advanced analytics, decision support, and user transactions. We specialize in taking data from inception to impact. Our team is composed of creative, forward-looking thinkers who are passionate about using cutting-edge technology to improve lives and generate a positive impact on our country. We offer an entrepreneurial, high-growth environment that values fresh ideas, candid conversations, and authentic teamwork. Amida is seeking highly motivated candidates who are interested in a mentor-guided Intern opportunity to apply what they have learned in the classroom to the real world. This will be a 40-hour a week position (during the summer, with academic-year commitments negotiable) initially slated to last three to six months. Preference will be given to candidates who can work a hybrid schedule (three days per week) in either our Richmond, VA or Washington, DC office, but we are open to remote. The selected interns will work on new projects in post-quantum cryptography, such as: Benchmarking PQC algorithm performance - including key generation, encapsulation/decapsulation, latency for ML-KEM and ML-DSA across open-source libraries (e.g., liboqs, OpenSSL 3.x provider) against current RSA/ECDH baselines Validate library conformance - build test harnesses that run PQC implementations against official NIST test vectors (FIPS 203/204/205) Support (and help create) crypto inventory and migration-readiness assessments - scan codebases and configs to catalog where RSA/DH components currently are embedded Potentially prototype hybrid classical-PQC configurations - stand up sandboxed hybrid handshakes (e.g., X25519 + ML-KEM), and document compatibility (and performance) findings
