About The Position

Labcorp is seeking a Data Science Intern to join their Oncology Team. This internship is part of the 2027 Global Internship Program and offers an 11-week paid experience working on impactful projects. Interns will gain real-world experience, support Labcorp's mission, and be immersed in hands-on work that complements their academic background. The program includes enterprise-wide learning experiences, leadership exposure, an immersive intern event, senior leader speaker sessions, continuous opportunities to connect and grow, engagement with employee resource groups, and dedicated mentoring. The Bioinformatics and Data Science team at Personal Genome Diagnostics (PGDx), a part of LabCorp, focuses on empowering the fight against cancer by unlocking actionable information from the genome, developing genomic products for laboratories worldwide.

Requirements

Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree program in Life Sciences, Data Science, Bioinformatics or Computer Science
Interest in oncology, genomics, data science and/or bioinformatics
Show initiative and the ability to work independently under general supervision
Maintains professionalism, including punctuality and appropriate conduct
Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
Actively participates in training sessions and applies newly learned skills accordingly
Ability to collaborate with various stakeholders

Nice To Haves

3-6 months experience with data and/or software, working with Next-Generation Sequencing data and/or tooling
3-6 months experience delivering multiple projects in an academic or professional setting

Responsibilities

Support development and evaluation of bioinformatics pipelines and internal tooling
Contribute to technical documentation
Learn development processes in an agile setting
Familiarize yourself with genomics results and aid in harmonization of genomic results for precision oncology products
