About The Position

Labcorp is seeking a Data Science Intern to join our Oncology Team located in Baltimore, MD! This is an 11-week paid internship within the 2027 Global Internship Program, running from June 1, 2027, to August 13, 2027. The internship offers hands-on work that complements academic backgrounds, providing exposure to Labcorp’s global business, culture, and leadership. Interns will work on impactful projects, gain real-world experience, and support Labcorp's mission to improve health and improve lives. The Bioinformatics and Data Science team within Personal Genome Diagnostics (PGDx), a part of LabCorp, supports the Oncology portfolio by providing bioinformatics and data science expertise. The program includes enterprise-wide learning experiences, leadership exposure, an in-person intern event, senior leader speaker sessions, continuous networking opportunities, engagement with employee resource groups, and dedicated mentoring.

Requirements

• Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree program in Life Sciences, Data Science, Bioinformatics or Computer Science
• Interest in oncology, genomics, data science and/or bioinformatics
• Show initiative and the ability to work independently under general supervision
• Maintains professionalism, including punctuality and appropriate conduct
• Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
• Actively participates in training sessions and applies newly learned skills accordingly
• Ability to collaborate with various stakeholders
• Preferred candidates are rising juniors and seniors (Dec 2027 through June 2029 graduation) who are currently enrolled in a relevant degree program; however, all current students pursuing related studies are encouraged to apply.
• This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Nice To Haves

• 3-6 months experience with data and/or software, working with Next-Generation Sequencing data and/or tooling
• 3-6 months experience delivering multiple projects in an academic or professional setting

Responsibilities

• Support development and evaluation of bioinformatics pipelines and internal tooling
• Contribute to technical documentation
• Learn development processes in an agile setting
• Familiarize yourself with genomics results and aid in harmonization of genomic results for precision oncology products
