About The Position

Join AMETEK Programmable Power, a leader in cutting-edge programmable power solutions and systems. We specialize in designing and delivering precision AC and DC programmable power supplies, electronic loads, power subsystems, and compliance test solutions. If you're ready to work at the forefront of differentiated power technologies, this is your opportunity to make an impact in a fast-paced, high-tech environment! This is an onsite position in San Diego, CA. It is a year-round internship with an expectation of 20–28 hours per week during the school year and the opportunity to work full-time during academic breaks. Summary: The AI Internship will enhance the organization’s AI-driven planning and operational decision-making by improving dashboard usability, integrating predictive insights with financial impact, and standardizing processes for scalable adoption. The effort translates complex model outputs into planner-friendly risk signals, validates data end‑to‑end, and embeds learnings from pilots to evolve the AI product in partnership with planners, buyers, and operations leaders. This project scope encompasses visualization enhancements to the AI dashboards—including refined layouts, consistent color semantics for risk severity and confidence, intuitive drill‑downs, quick filters, contextual tooltips, and baseline‑vs‑predicted comparison views. Alongside integration of revenue‑at‑risk by modeling the impact of predicted delays using lead‑time deltas, demand signals, and margin tiers with configurable thresholds and alert logic. Delivering planner‑friendly risk summaries at PO, supplier, category, and regional levels with executive roll‑ups and “next best action” prompts tied to playbooks (e.g., expedite, substitute, re‑plan, communicate). The scope also includes rigorous end‑to‑end testing—validating data lineage from model outputs through staging, semantic layers, and dashboard elements, plus regression and UAT across core user journeys (planner start‑of‑day, buyer escalation, ops review)—and a robust data validation layer with field‑level checks (nulls, outliers, duplicates), schema tests, freshness SLAs, and confidence scoring with flags for low‑quality signals. Additionally, the project standardizes process flows via RACI‑based workflows for alert triage, escalation paths, remediation loops, and cadenced reviews (daily/weekly ops stand‑ups, monthly S&OP tie‑ins), and produces role‑based user guides, quick‑starts, FAQs, and change logs. Pilot learnings are systematically captured—tracking hypotheses, accuracy and adoption deltas, and qualitative feedback—to inform a prioritized backlog for iterative feature, metric, and workflow refinement.
