Requirements

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in Data Science, Business Analytics, Statistics or related computational field of study and 2 years of experience in Data Science or Data Analytics.
  • Employer will accept pre- or post-Master’s degree experience. All experience must be post-Bachelor’s.
  • Applicants must have demonstrated experience with the following: statistical programming languages, including Python.
  • transforming large data sets (~20K products, ~25M product-locations, ~10B product-location-days per year) across disparate sources using SQL.
  • analytic and data manipulation techniques, including predictive modeling, clustering, classification, and optimization algorithms to uncover patterns and drive strategic initiatives.
  • leveraging business intelligence tools (to include Looker or MicroStrategy) to design and build interactive dashboards that drive data-driven decision-making.
  • using Python and R packages to develop presentations of data findings (including insights, opportunities, and business recommendations) for senior management.
  • version control systems, code reviews, and collaborative development in team environments.
  • defining and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate business performance and guide strategic decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Leverage advanced analytical techniques and programming languages to mine through massive data sets and isolate patterns in customer purchase behavior, store performance, and competitive pricing schemes (predictive modeling, clustering, design of experiments, etc.).
  • Work with team members to influence strategic decisions and create accurate financial forecasts based on customer behavior analyses with tangible recommendations to optimize customer acquisition, retention, and lifetime value.
  • Present findings across business by effectively translating complex data and analysis into clear insights, opportunities, and tangible business recommendations.
  • Develop reports, dashboards and build compelling data visualizations that effectively measure, track, and quantify changes in customer behavior and spend patterns.
  • Contribute to complex long-term projects from initial scoping through full execution and training with inputs from a variety of cross-functional teams (IT, Merchandising, Marketing).
  • Collaborate with data science team as expert on the business by providing direction to best leverage advanced modeling techniques and machine learning algorithms to achieve strategic objectives and business goals.
