The Sylvester Data Science and AI Innovations Internship Program provides supervised training for students, trainees, research fellows, and others interested in developing tools to analyze and visualize clinical and research data in oncology. The intern will work with molecular, sociodemographic, psychosocial, patient-reported, lifestyle, wearable, and other clinical and research data, as well as publicly available population- and neighborhood-level datasets. Activities take place across Sylvester research laboratories and the Sylvester Survivorship and Supportive Care Institute. The role supports data cleaning, documentation, harmonization, and integration; analytic and technical work linking individual-level data with population-level information; and research into factors that guide cancer care and influence outcomes. The intern also supports development and evaluation of AI-driven algorithms, analytic tools, dashboards, AI-enabled applications, digital health and precision medicine tools, and risk-tailored supportive care interventions. The position includes regular individual and small-group meetings with mentors and program faculty to review pipelines, troubleshoot methods, refine research questions, and clarify expectations. This position is described as a full-time, temporary-intermittent Casual Worker role. Casual Workers provide services on an irregular or flexible basis to meet fluctuating demand and help departments meet deadlines.
