About The Position

As Data and Reporting Analyst – Finance, you will connect Finance and Analytics by translating Finance requirements into trusted datasets, reports, analytical models and controlled automation. This is a data-focused role, not an accounting or finance practitioner position. You will use technical expertise, analytical judgement and business partnership to improve information accuracy, efficiency and accessibility, strengthen controls and support decision-making. The role involves building and maintaining data pipelines, transformations, models and reporting datasets; developing governed, reusable Finance datasets and reporting standards; and creating reports, dashboards and workflow prototypes. You will own multiple initiatives, partner with Finance stakeholders, analyse financial and operational performance, and establish data-quality controls. You will also apply appropriate AI, automation and low-code solutions to Finance reporting and administration while retaining human review, approvals, auditability, exception handling and protections for sensitive information. You will maintain technical and business documentation and support Finance users of the role’s datasets, reports and analytical solutions. TransferMate is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to a workplace free from discrimination and harassment.

Requirements

  • Strong hands-on Power BI or comparable business intelligence experience, covering data modelling, DAX or equivalent logic, dashboards, security and performance optimisation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including explaining data, reporting logic and technical issues clearly to Finance and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Advanced SQL and strong experience with relational databases, transformations, dimensional models and large datasets, including diagnosing quality and performance issues.
  • Strong Microsoft 365 and Power Platform knowledge, particularly Excel, Power Query, Power Automate and related tools for analysis, workflow automation and controlled business solutions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, accuracy and ownership of business-critical data assets.
  • Practical understanding of AI-assisted analytics and automation, use-case evaluation, output validation, and data privacy, security and governance.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Finance concepts, reporting cycles, reconciliations, controls, budgets and performance measures, plus experience supporting Finance, is desirable but not mandatory. Candidates must be able to develop this understanding to translate Finance needs into data solutions.
  • No finance or professional accounting qualification is required.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain reliable pipelines, transformations, data models and reporting datasets using SQL and appropriate integration tools, including validation, documentation and monitoring.
  • Translate Finance requirements into scalable models, reports, dashboards and workflow prototypes, documenting business definitions, calculation logic and acceptance criteria.
  • Develop and govern reusable Finance datasets, semantic models and reporting standards, with clear definitions, lineage, access controls and quality checks.
  • Own multiple data and reporting initiatives, managing priorities, dependencies, risks and stakeholder expectations to deliver accurate, tested solutions on time.
  • Partner with Finance stakeholders and experts on reporting, planning, reconciliation and controls; clarify requests and turn agreed needs into robust data and reporting solutions.
  • Analyse financial and operational data to explain performance, variances and emerging issues, identify root causes, and seek further evidence where conclusions remain unsupported.
  • Deliver appropriate AI uses in Finance reporting, including assisted analysis, anomaly detection, forecasting support, documentation and natural-language access to governed data, with human review and sensitive-information controls.
  • Use automation, low-code tools and AI workflows to reduce manual data preparation, recurring reporting and avoidable Finance administration while retaining approvals, auditability and exception handling.
  • Establish and monitor Finance data-quality controls, investigate exceptions, and test, document and communicate changes to sources, definitions and calculations.
  • Maintain technical and business documentation and support Finance users of the role’s datasets, reports and analytical solutions.
