Data & Reporting Analyst

Petra Funds GroupBoston, MA
$102,000 - $153,000Hybrid

About The Position

Petra Funds Group is seeking a Data & Reporting Analyst to support the build-out and ongoing operation of the firm’s data and reporting infrastructure. Working under the direction of the Head of Portfolio Management, this individual will execute the day-to-day technical work: building and maintaining data pipelines, developing dashboards and reports, running data-quality checks, and supporting firm-wide system implementations. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented, technically capable analyst who takes clear direction well, executes reliably, and is eager to deepen their skills across the modern data stack. Data is central to the Portfolio Management function, and the ideal candidate pairs a data-first discipline with the resourcefulness to build practical solutions from scratch in a lean, fast-moving environment.

Requirements

  • 2–4 years of experience in a data analyst, BI, or data engineering support role; internship or co-op experience may count toward the lower end of the range
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Finance, Economics, or a related field
  • Solid SQL skills and familiarity with data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake, Postgres, Azure, or similar)
  • Experience building or maintaining reports and dashboards in a BI tool (e.g., Power BI, Tableau)
  • Strong attention to detail, reliability in executing recurring deliverables, and the ability to take and follow technical direction
  • A data-first mindset — treats accurate, well-structured data as the foundation of every report and decision, and takes ownership of data quality
  • A resourceful, creative problem-solver comfortable in a lean, resource-constrained, “day-one” environment; able to build solutions from scratch rather than rely on established infrastructure
  • Good communication skills and a willingness to learn the business and grow technically

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to data transformation tools (e.g., dbt) and scripting/automation (Python, VBA, Power Automate) a plus
  • Interest in or exposure to financial services, asset management, or private credit a plus, but not required

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain data pipelines and transformation logic (e.g., SQL, dbt) against the design and specifications set by the Head of Portfolio Management
  • Load, refresh, and validate data across the firm’s data warehouse and source systems on a recurring basis
  • Implement and maintain data models and mapping logic as directed, keeping documentation current
  • Build and maintain reports and dashboards (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) covering Fund- and Firm-level holdings, KPIs, performance metrics, and attribution to specifications provided
  • Produce and distribute recurring daily, weekly, and monthly reports; troubleshoot issues and ensure timely, accurate delivery
  • Run data-quality checks and reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness across source systems, the warehouse, and downstream reporting
  • Support firm-wide system implementations, data migrations, and integrations, executing configuration and data-mapping tasks as assigned
  • Assist with testing and validation activities for new systems and enhancements
  • Develop and maintain automation (Python, SQL, VBA, Power Automate, or similar) to reduce manual data handling, following established patterns and direction
  • Document technical processes and maintain clear, up-to-date records of pipelines, reports, and routines

Benefits

  • 90% covered medical, dental, and vision insurance premiums
  • Fully funded Health Savings Account (HSA) employer contributions up to the IRS maximum
  • 401(k) employer match at 100% of your contributions up to 5% of compensation, with immediate vesting
  • Flexible paid time off
  • Generous holiday calendar
