About The Position

We're looking for a Data Reliability Engineer to help build and operate the resilient data platforms that power IXOPAY's global payment infrastructure. In this hands-on engineering role, you'll combine software engineering, database expertise, and platform engineering to ensure our mission-critical data systems are secure, highly available, and built to scale. Working closely with Engineering, Infrastructure, Security, and Product teams, you'll automate database operations, strengthen platform resilience, and optimize data services across our cloud-native and hybrid environments. This is an opportunity to help shape the future of IXOPAY's data platform while building the automation, observability, and reliability practices that support enterprise-scale payment processing.

Requirements

  • Experience in Data Reliability Engineering, Database Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering, or a related infrastructure engineering role.
  • Strong experience managing and optimizing enterprise-scale relational databases, including Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and MySQL.
  • Experience designing, operating, and scaling distributed NoSQL platforms, including Azure Cosmos DB.
  • Proficiency with scripting and automation using Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar languages.
  • Experience implementing infrastructure as code using Terraform, OpenTofu, or comparable technologies.
  • Strong understanding of observability practices, including monitoring, alerting, logging, and performance analysis using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or Azure Monitor.
  • Experience supporting Linux and Windows Server environments, with a solid understanding of distributed systems, storage, and networking fundamentals.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with experience resolving complex production issues in large-scale environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience managing database workloads within Kubernetes environments.
  • Experience working in highly regulated environments with compliance frameworks such as PCI DSS, SOC 2, or ISO 27001.
  • Experience with analytical databases such as ClickHouse or other OLAP technologies.
  • Experience contributing to open-source database or infrastructure projects.
  • Cloud platform certifications or equivalent experience with Microsoft Azure and AWS.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain automated frameworks for provisioning, scaling, upgrading, and managing database infrastructure across multiple database technologies.
  • Develop infrastructure as code and automation that simplifies database lifecycle management, including backups, upgrades, cloud migrations, and disaster recovery.
  • Contribute to the design and evolution of scalable, resilient data architectures that support IXOPAY's growing global platform.
  • Define and maintain service level objectives (SLOs) and service level indicators (SLIs) for critical data platforms.
  • Engineer automated recovery solutions that improve resilience against infrastructure failures, regional outages, and data integrity issues.
  • Monitor database health, resource utilization, and application performance, proactively identifying opportunities to improve scalability and efficiency.
  • Partner with Software Engineering teams to optimize queries, indexing strategies, and database performance across production workloads.
  • Implement security best practices including role-based access control (RBAC), encryption, auditing, and data governance standards.
  • Lead incident response efforts for database-related production issues, performing root cause analyses and implementing long-term improvements that reduce operational risk.
  • Develop and maintain operational documentation, runbooks, and automated processes that improve team efficiency and platform reliability.
  • Build software and automation that reduces operational overhead and improves the consistency of database operations.
  • Partner with Platform Engineering, Infrastructure, and Security teams to improve observability, operational readiness, and platform resilience.
  • Participate in Agile planning, share technical expertise across the organization, and continuously improve engineering practices through automation and innovation.
