About The Position

Travelers’ Data Engineering team builds pipelines that contextualize data and make it accessible across the enterprise. In this role, you will accelerate growth and transformation of the analytics landscape by leading teams that design and build data solutions to capture, explore, transform, and use data for artificial intelligence, machine learning, and business intelligence and insights. You will support data ingestion from multiple sources and communicate information to relevant partners while mentoring and developing data engineers.

The position leads the development of analytic data products, including pilots and proofs of concept; executes data strategies for different consumption patterns; identifies enterprise architecture, platform, and application infrastructure needs; and drives operationalization and automation to ensure secure, supported, scalable solutions. You will present analysis and recommendations to management and executive leadership, coach senior team members, and establish budgets, policies, and practices with significant impact on area operations. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, a related STEM field, or equivalent education and/or work experience.
• Seven additional years of data engineering experience.
• Two years of technical leadership experience.
• Eight or more years of related work experience.
• Four or more years of team leadership experience.
• Demonstrated experience partnering with data science teams to support analytical and modeling initiatives.
• Hands-on data engineering background, including building and maintaining data pipelines and infrastructure.
• Track record of progressing from individual contributor engineering roles into team leadership.
• Experience evaluating data sources and consolidating data assets into centralized, accessible platforms.
• Ability to assess the quality and scope of technical work, articulate its business value, and represent it effectively to stakeholders and leadership.
