About The Position

Carvana is looking for a Data Product Engineer to help build our internal product that helps teams find and use business information. You will work with engineers, analysts, product managers, and business teams to understand what users need, develop features, connect systems, and keep the product reliable as it grows. By democratizing business intelligence across the company, you will empower hundreds of analysts, product owners, and executives across the company to leverage Carvana’s data. This role is a good fit for an engineer who likes working directly with users and taking work from an initial idea through launch and ongoing support.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience building software, data tools, or internal products.
  • Experience writing and maintaining production code in at least one modern programming language.
  • Hands-on experience using AI coding tools, such as Claude Code, Codex, or similar tools, as part of software development.
  • Experience working with APIs, databases, data pipelines, or cloud-based systems.
  • Understanding of software development practices such as source control, code review, testing, deployment, and production support.
  • Ability to work with users and business partners to understand problems and turn them into practical solutions.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a closely related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.

Responsibilities

  • Work with users, business leaders, engineers, analysts, and product managers to determine what the product should do and what to build next.
  • Build and maintain the application, services, and data integrations that power the product.
  • Develop product features and workflows that make it easy for teams to find and use business information.
  • Connect the product to internal data sources and systems.
  • Make technical decisions about application architecture, APIs, data models, security, performance, and reliability.
  • Test, debug, monitor, and support the product in production.
  • Improve the product based on user feedback, usage, and changing business needs.
  • Document how the system works, train users, and answer questions.
  • Other duties as assigned.
