Data Platform Engineer

INEOS•Denver, CO
•Onsite

About The Position

INEOS Energy is seeking a Data Platform Engineer to build and maintain the data models that transform raw operational data into decision-ready analytics. The role supports a data-driven, AI-enabled energy business and requires developing reliable, production-grade data solutions using dbt, SQL, Python, and other modern data stack tools. The engineer will work with stakeholders to translate business needs into scalable models and analytics solutions, with a focus on data modeling, governance, and modern data architecture. The position integrates high-volume telemetry and SCADA data, including time-series data with irregular intervals, late-arriving and backfilled records, sensor gaps, and unit and tag standardization. The engineer will also build semantic and context layers for analysts and AI agents, and own the orchestration, CI/CD, testing, monitoring, and deployment processes behind the platform. Work is performed at both field and office locations on a 9/80 schedule, with travel to INEOS field locations required. Candidates residing in the Denver metropolitan area receive preferential treatment. The role is not currently eligible for employment visa sponsorship.

  • Integrate high-volume telemetry and SCADA data, addressing time-series characteristics including irregular intervals, late-arriving and backfilled records, sensor gaps, and unit and tag standardization.
  • Write and optimize complex SQL transformations to meet reporting and analytical requirements and operate reliably under production load.
  • Build semantic and context layers, including certified metric definitions, business-friendly naming, documented lineage, and descriptive context for analysts and AI agents.
  • Partner with stakeholders to apply governance and documentation standards across platform solutions.
  • Own orchestration and CI/CD pipelines, defining job dependencies and schedules and automating testing and deployment.
