Data Platform Engineer/Business Analyst
About The Position
Lafayette Federal Credit Union is hiring a full-time Data Platform Engineer/Business Analyst to maintain and evolve its data platform and analytics capabilities. The role supports reliable data pipelines and reporting systems built on Microsoft Fabric and Azure, integrating core banking systems, APIs, and flat files into OneLake, and maintaining data models across loans, deposits, and general ledger domains. The position also enables business users through dashboards, reports, and ad hoc analysis, while contributing to platform monitoring, continuous improvement, and future-state architecture. The position works across data engineering, platform operations, and business analytics. It partners with business users, leaders, and technical stakeholders to translate needs into practical data solutions. The role also works alongside the SVP of Finance & Accounting on department priorities and related duties, and completes applicable annual mandated training as directed by management and/or the SVP of Risk Management. Applicants must reside in DC, Maryland, or Virginia within reasonable commuting distance of the Washington, DC metropolitan-area headquarters and meet onsite requirements. The position is hybrid.
Requirements
- Five to eight years of similar or related experience.
- A bachelor’s degree, or formal industry-recognized certifications considered equivalent to a bachelor’s degree, such as qualifying information technology certifications.
- Ability to maintain and evolve a data platform built on Microsoft Fabric and Azure.
- Ability to support data engineering and ETL workflows that ingest core banking data, APIs, and flat files into OneLake.
- Ability to maintain and evolve data models across business units, including loans, deposits, and general ledger domains.
- Ability to develop and maintain dashboards and reports using Tableau or similar business intelligence tools.
- Ability to monitor pipeline reliability, performance, and data quality and contribute to continuous improvement.
- Strong relationship-building, communication, influencing, and training skills to support technical and business stakeholders.
- Must reside in DC, Maryland, or Virginia within reasonable commuting distance of the Washington, DC metropolitan-area headquarters and be able to meet onsite work requirements.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and strengthen the data platform, ensuring high availability and reliability of data pipelines and reporting systems built on Microsoft Fabric and Azure.
- Implement monitoring for pipeline failures, performance issues, and data anomalies.
- Contribute to the data platform roadmap and future-state architecture.
- Ingest data from core banking systems, APIs, and flat files into OneLake.
- Maintain and evolve data models across business units, including loans, deposits, and general ledger domains.
- Support reliable data pipelines that enable scalable analytics.
- Partner with business users to support dashboards and ad hoc analysis.
- Develop and maintain dashboards and reports using Tableau or similar business intelligence tools.
- Support reporting and analytics needs of leadership and business stakeholders.
- Translate business needs into practical data solutions and foster effective relationships with technical and business stakeholders.
- Work alongside the SVP of Finance & Accounting to support department priorities and carry out related duties as assigned.
- Complete applicable annual mandated training accurately and on time, including Bank Secrecy Act, Anti-Money Laundering, OFAC, Cybersecurity, Diversity & Anti-Harassment, and Fair Lending requirements.
