About The Position

Data is at the core of the Aladdin platform and is central to how we deliver investment and technology solutions. The Data Engineering team is responsible for the data ecosystem within BlackRock, building high-performance data pipelines, enabling data discovery and consumption, and continually evolving data storage capabilities. The Enterprise Data Platform team extends data lifecycle management practices across structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data domains, helping investors, operations teams, data scientists, and platform users access high-quality data at scale. As a Data Platform DevOps Engineer in Software Engineering, you will help build, operate, and improve the cloud-native infrastructure that supports Aladdin’s Enterprise Data Platform. You will contribute to scalable, reliable, and secure infrastructure for data processing, analytics, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and developer self-service capabilities. This hands-on engineering role focuses on automation, platform reliability, observability, and continuous improvement of production systems that support critical data platform capabilities.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to build, operate, and support cloud-native platforms, infrastructure automation, or site reliability engineering practices, supported by relevant education or equivalent practical experience and familiarity with major cloud platforms.
  • Hands-on experience with container orchestration, Infrastructure as Code, automated deployment pipelines, and Git-based engineering workflows.
  • Experience building automation and services while supporting distributed data storage and messaging platforms.
  • Strong troubleshooting, observability, communication, and collaboration skills in fast-paced engineering environments.
  • Familiarity with modern cloud-native deployment, networking, security, and policy governance patterns.
  • Exposure to AI, ML infrastructure, and modern generative AI concepts, including retrieval, indexing, and model-serving architectures.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of site reliability engineering (SRE) practices, multi-cloud environments, relevant engineering certifications, and emerging AI development frameworks is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Support the deployment, automation, and operation of cloud-native infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code and modern container orchestration platforms across public and private cloud environments.
  • Partner with engineering teams to enhance platform security, scalability, reliability, networking, access management, and operational efficiency.
  • Build and improve deployment automation, Git-based delivery workflows, and operational tooling using modern continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) and scripting practices.
  • Develop self-service platform capabilities while supporting observability, incident response, and production operations.
  • Contribute to platform reliability through performance optimization, capacity planning, and clear operational documentation.

Benefits

  • strong retirement plan
  • tuition reimbursement
  • comprehensive healthcare
  • support for working parents
  • Flexible Time Off (FTO)
