About The Position

Mount St. Mary's University is seeking a skilled and experienced Data Integration Engineer to design the overall integration architecture and develop institutional integrations. The role is the institution's technical lead for system-to-system data movement, API integrations, workflow automation, and the SQL Server data repository. It reports to the Director of IT Business Applications.

The position develops and supports integrations among institutional systems, cloud platforms, and third-party vendors, and builds ingestion pipelines that deliver operational data to the institutional lakehouse. It also supports data quality, security, governance, monitoring, documentation, and reliable operation of enterprise integration workflows.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise integrations between institutional systems, cloud platforms, and third-party vendors, including SIS, LMS, Human Resources, Finance, CRM, Identity Management, and external vendors.
• Build and support API, file-based, and database-driven data exchange processes.
• Troubleshoot integration issues and ensure reliable, secure data movement across systems.
• Develop and maintain ingestion pipelines that deliver operational data to the institutional lakehouse.
• Build ETL/ELT processes for curated, analytics-ready datasets and reporting environments.
• Implement data transformation, validation, and incremental loading strategies.
• Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and compliance with institutional data governance and security standards.
• Develop monitoring, validation, and audit processes to improve data reliability and transparency.
• Monitor, document, and support enterprise integration workflows.
• Implement automated alerting, error handling, and recovery processes.
• Participate in system upgrades, change management activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.
