About The Position

The Data Integration Consultant configures, maintains, and validates data mappings that connect customers’ third-party systems with Higher Logic applications. Working within Product, the role uses an integration platform’s mapping interface to translate incoming JSON objects and properties into target objects and properties, including custom objects and fields. The consultant applies transformations, formulas, conditional logic, filters, and literal values to meet customer use cases. The role supports existing integration infrastructure and helps the Sales and Partnerships team assess potential integration partners. Advancement to a Senior level may be possible depending on experience. This is an ongoing technical implementation role supporting new customer onboarding and existing customers as their systems, data models, and requirements change. The consultant determines how data should move, configures mappings, runs them through agreed processes, and verifies results. The role also serves as the subject matter expert for Higher Logic’s APIs. It reports directly to the VP, Product Management and works closely with the Project Manager, who owns prioritization, scheduling, delivery coordination, and most client and vendor interactions. Engineering owns production connector and platform development.

Requirements

  • Understand structured data and JSON, including objects, properties, identifiers, relationships, and custom fields, and translate business requirements into accurate source-to-target mappings.
  • Practical skill with data transformation, formulas, conditional logic, filters, and validation; ability to learn a mapping interface and independently configure and troubleshoot mappings within established practices.
  • Ability to investigate source data and destination results using appropriate query and inspection tools.
  • Working proficiency with SQL and API testing sufficient to support data checks and technical diagnosis.
  • Understand SaaS integrations, APIs, authentication, and data synchronization sufficiently to recognize limitations, diagnose issues, and explain needed enhancements to Engineering.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through across multiple customer configurations; ability to maintain clear records, follow priorities, adapt to changes, and escalate issues early.
  • Clear written and verbal communication with technical and nontechnical colleagues, customers, and vendors; ability to explain mapping decisions, evidence, and unresolved questions.
  • Ability to take direction, incorporate feedback, and use AI effectively while validating results and following company requirements for sensitive data and system access.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in data conversion, data migration, technical implementation, integration configuration, or a related role involving mapping, transformation, and validation of customer data.
  • Experience with AMS or CRM implementations; experience with associations or understanding their operations, member needs, and software ecosystems is a plus.
  • Experience maintaining customer-specific configurations and troubleshooting data issues across connected software systems; SaaS experience is preferred.
  • Experience with scripting, software development, or reading code; independent development of production integrations is not required.
  • Experience using AI-assisted tools such as Cursor and Replit.
  • Familiarity with MCP, reusable AI skills, or tools for building internal reports and utilities.

Responsibilities

  • Review source-system documentation, sample JSON payloads, and available data to understand objects, properties, identifiers, relationships, customizations, and limitations; clarify technical requirements with the project lead and relevant teams.
  • Configure source-to-target mappings through the integration platform, including one-to-one field mappings, transformations, formulas, conditional logic, filters, and literal values; support standard and custom objects in source and destination systems.
  • Apply mappings to customer onboarding, data conversion, and ongoing integrations involving AMS, CRM, partner integrations, and Higher Logic applications.
  • Run and validate mappings using agreed access and review practices; compare source and destination results, check record counts and field values, verify relationships and use-case outcomes, and investigate missing, duplicate, rejected, or incorrectly transformed data.
  • Maintain mappings as customers change systems, fields, custom objects, or business rules; diagnose mapping and configuration issues, document findings, and escalate connector or platform defects with reproducible examples.
  • Identify capabilities needed for new third-party systems or use cases; specify platform, API, or authentication enhancements for Product and Engineering, explain expected behavior, and validate delivered changes.
  • Maintain mapping specifications, configuration records, test evidence, supported-use-case guidance, known limitations, and troubleshooting procedures; develop reusable mapping templates and validation checks.
  • Enable Integration Services, onboarding, and support teams to perform routine configuration and validation through documentation and training; provide technical escalation support for complex mappings and exceptions.
  • Partner with customer implementation and support teams to provide integration documentation, enablement, guidance, and, when needed, direct customer support.
  • Provide the Project Manager with technical progress, findings, effort estimates, dependencies, and risks; join customer or vendor discussions when technical clarification is needed and communicate through email and live meetings.
  • Use approved AI tools to improve mapping, analysis, validation, and documentation; help maintain reusable AI skills and support agent-assisted, MCP-enabled, and UI self-service workflows as they become available, verifying outputs and results.
  • Recommend requirements for interfaces, reports, and utilities that improve mapping oversight and exception handling; where appropriate, prototype them using approved AI-assisted tools and agreed review practices.
  • Conduct all business in accordance with Higher Logic policies and procedures.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
