Data & Insights Analyst

Children Believe FundMarkham, ON
CA$51,000 - CA$60,000Hybrid

About The Position

The Data & Insights Analyst is the data engine of Children Believe's Marketing & Development (M&D) division. This role is responsible for turning raw data into clear, actionable intelligence — ensuring the division runs on facts, not assumptions, and that every team has the reporting and insights it needs to make smarter decisions and demonstrate impact. Reporting to the Manager, M&D Operations, this role owns the integrity and usability of M&D's CRM data, manages the full reporting and dashboard ecosystem, and drives innovation in how the division uses digital data and AI-powered tools. It is a hands-on, execution-focused role with real strategic value — the outputs produced here directly shape how the CMDO and M&D Directors measure performance, allocate resources, and tell their story to donors and stakeholders. This is an ideal role for an analytically strong early-career professional who is eager to grow, build meaningful systems, and see their work directly connected to a mission that changes children's lives.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in a relevant field (Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, Marketing, Communications, Statistics, or equivalent experience).
  • 1–3 years of experience in a data, reporting, or analytics role; non-profit or fundraising experience is an asset but not required.
  • Strong Excel/Google Sheets skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and data visualization.
  • Working proficiency in Power BI (or equivalent BI/dashboard tool), with the ability to build and maintain reporting dashboards.
  • Familiarity with Google Analytics (GA4) and digital marketing measurement fundamentals.
  • Strong attention to detail and a demonstrated commitment to data accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet reporting deadlines consistently.
  • Clear and effective written communication — can explain findings to non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Children Believe's Vision, Mission, and Values.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with AI or automation tools applied to data tasks (e.g., Python scripting, ChatGPT/Claude for data analysis, Zapier, or similar).
  • Proficiency in CRM platforms (Dynamics or equivalent); experience with data entry standards and database hygiene.
  • Experience with SEO platforms (SEMrush, Moz, Google Search Console).
  • Knowledge of email marketing platforms and campaign performance metrics.
  • Experience in a fundraising, marketing, or donor communications environment.
  • Familiarity with Intacct or similar accounting/finance software.
  • Proficiency in French or Spanish.

Responsibilities

  • Build, maintain, and continuously improve M&D's suite of performance dashboards and KPI reports — ensuring every team has timely, accurate visibility into what matters most.
  • Produce the monthly M&D KPI dashboard for the CMDO and Directors, incorporating charts, trend analysis, and narrative highlights.
  • Develop standardized reporting templates that reduce manual effort and increase consistency across the division.
  • Respond to ad hoc data and reporting requests from M&D Directors and the CMDO with accuracy and speed.
  • Proactively surface insights, anomalies, and trends — don't just report the numbers, explain what they mean.
  • Own the quality and reliability of M&D's CRM data — including donor records, contact information, gift history, and segmentation — ensuring it is clean, consistent, and complete.
  • Design and implement data entry standards, hygiene protocols, and audit processes to prevent data degradation over time.
  • Lead regular data clean-up initiatives: deduplication, record merging, field standardization, and validation.
  • Build CRM queries, segments, and lists to support fundraising campaigns, donor communications, and strategic analysis.
  • Act as the go-to resource for CRM data questions across M&D — supporting teams in getting the most out of the system.
  • Liaise with the CRM platform provider and IT as needed on system issues, upgrades, and data imports/exports.
  • Manage and interpret data from digital channels including website analytics (Google Analytics), SEO platforms, email marketing tools, and social media insights.
  • Ensure digital data sources are properly connected, consistently tracked, and integrated into M&D reporting where relevant.
  • Monitor digital performance trends and provide regular reporting to the Digital & Community Engagement team and the CMDO.
  • Support campaign measurement and attribution — helping teams understand what is driving donor acquisition, engagement, and conversion.
  • Research, pilot, and implement AI-powered tools that improve reporting efficiency, data quality, and analytical depth across M&D.
  • Identify repetitive or manual data tasks that can be automated — and build or configure solutions to eliminate them.
  • Stay current on emerging data and AI tools relevant to non-profit fundraising and digital marketing; bring recommendations to the Manager, M&D Operations.
  • Support the broader M&D team in developing data literacy and comfort with new tools through documentation, training, and hands-on support.
