About The Position

The Data Governance Manager is responsible for executing the organization’s Data Governance strategy through hands‑on implementation, administration, and continuous monitoring of data access, enablement, and security across the data estate and analytics ecosystem. This role operates at the intersection of governance, platform administration, and enablement—ensuring data is discoverable, trusted, protected, and used responsibly.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, Data Architecture, Cybersecurity, or a related field required; equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
  • 6+ years of progressive experience in data governance, analytics, security, platform administration, or related technology disciplines.
  • Experience administering enterprise analytics and data platforms, including Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, Synapse, Azure Data Services, or similar technologies.
  • Experience managing data governance, security, access controls, and platform administration functions with a high degree of independence.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, OneLake, workspace administration, security roles, sharing models, and capacity management.
  • Knowledge of enterprise data governance concepts, including metadata management, business glossaries, lineage, stewardship, and data catalog administration.
  • Experience administering SharePoint and supporting secure management of unstructured content.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID, Azure security administration, service principals, privileged access management, and identity governance.
  • An understanding of data security principles, including zero trust, least privilege, sensitivity labeling, data classification, and data loss prevention.
  • Ability to analyze governance, security, and compliance risks and implement practical solutions.
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and relationship-building skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to influence data governance adoption and drive accountability across multiple stakeholder groups.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt in a rapidly evolving technology environment.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States now or in the future without visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Executing and monitoring enterprise data governance policies, standards, controls, and procedures across the firm's data and analytics ecosystem.
  • Administering and maintaining the enterprise data governance platform, including data domains, data sources, scanning schedules, metadata, business glossaries, lineage, retention policies, and other catalog assets.
  • Identifying, onboarding, and partnering with Data Owners, Data Stewards, and Data Readers to establish accountability, maintain documentation, and promote governance adoption across the organization.
  • Facilitating the creation, standardization, and ongoing maintenance of data products, governance documentation, business definitions, and governance workflows.
  • Serving as Microsoft Fabric Tenant Administrator, overseeing capacity management, workspace administration, lifecycle controls, feature enablement, and platform governance standards.
  • Monitoring platform usage and data access patterns, providing guidance on data management, sharing, security, and governance best practices while identifying and remediating governance or compliance risks.
  • Partnering with IT Security to implement, maintain, and validate data classification, sensitivity labeling, data loss prevention (DLP), and related security controls.
  • Administering enterprise data access and security, including OneLake Security, role-based access models, security groups, service principals, and other identity and access management controls.
  • Conducting access reviews and governance audits to ensure compliance with zero trust, least privilege, data protection, and environment segregation requirements.
  • Monitoring platform telemetry, audit logs, governance metrics, and compliance indicators to identify trends, risks, optimization opportunities, and areas for continuous improvement.
  • Supporting governance maturity initiatives, roadmap planning, and the development of governance standards by providing operational expertise and execution-focused recommendations.
  • Participating in governance councils, communities of practice, and cross-functional initiatives to promote governance awareness, consistency, and adoption.
  • Serving as an escalation point for complex data governance, security, platform administration, and access management issues requiring cross-functional coordination.
  • Supporting governance standards for emerging technologies, including AI-enabled solutions, automation, and agent-driven workflows, ensuring the responsible, secure, and compliant use of organizational data.
  • Ensuring timely and accurate performance on assigned projects.
  • Maintaining compliance with project budgets, turnaround times, and deadlines.
