About The Position

As a Data Governance Expert Advisor, you will play a key role in implementing modern data governance practices that promote responsible, consistent, and compliant data usage while maximizing business value. You will be at the heart of our mission, supporting organizational units in adopting and applying data governance best practices; contributing to the definition, evolution, and implementation of data governance frameworks, standards, and guidelines; supporting pragmatic and progressive initiatives related to data cataloging, data quality, classification, and data lifecycle management for structured and unstructured data; advising and influencing stakeholders on data governance, compliance, and data value–creation topics; collaborating closely with IT, analytics, security, and compliance teams to ensure integrated data governance; developing tools, templates, approaches, and training materials to foster the autonomy of business teams; and contributing to awareness efforts and the continuous advancement of the organization’s data culture.

Requirements

  • Has 5+ years of relevant experience in data governance, data management, or information management
  • Holds a university degree in a relevant field
  • Is recognized for strong expertise in data governance and data management
  • Stands out for strong influencing skills and excellent communication abilities
  • Demonstrates the ability to simplify and explain complex concepts to diverse audiences
  • Adopts a collaborative, structured, and solution-oriented approach
  • Has an advanced level of English and French proficiency, as the role requires regular collaboration, advisory support, and influence with technology, analytics, and corporate partners across the organization at a national level

  • Worked in a complex or regulated environment (financial services, insurance — an asset)
  • Knowledge of recognized frameworks (DAMA, DCAM — an asset)

Responsibilities

  • Supporting organizational units in adopting and applying data governance best practices
  • Contributing to the definition, evolution, and implementation of data governance frameworks, standards, and guidelines
  • Supporting pragmatic and progressive initiatives related to data cataloging, data quality, classification, and data lifecycle management for structured and unstructured data
  • Advising and influencing stakeholders on data governance, compliance, and data value–creation topics
  • Collaborating closely with IT, analytics, security, and compliance teams to ensure integrated data governance
  • Developing tools, templates, approaches, and training materials to foster the autonomy of business teams
  • Contributing to awareness efforts and the continuous advancement of the organization’s data culture
