Data & Financial Services Product Manager

WorldStrides
$120,000 - $135,000Hybrid

About The Position

WorldStrides is seeking a Data & Financial Services Product Manager to own two under-invested product spaces: how families and institutions pay for and finance educational travel, and how the company sees, trusts, and acts on its own data. This role is crucial for shaping customer trust, business economics, and the speed of the product organization. The company is migrating its data platform to Microsoft Fabric with Power BI for analytics and reporting, and this Product Manager will play a key role in shaping this transition from a product perspective. This is a builder's role focused on outcomes rather than feature volume, requiring sharp problem framing, portfolio-based experimentation, and deliberate prioritization of attention.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in product management, with experience in at least one of: payments or fintech, data or analytics platforms, financial operations product (billing, subscriptions, revenue), internal tooling, or B2B SaaS with a technical customer.
  • Comfort with structured, quantitative problems, including SQL and spreadsheet fluency.
  • Ability to discuss pipeline or semantic model design with data engineers.
  • Working familiarity with Power BI as a consumer.
  • Strong discovery instincts, with a history of conducting customer research.
  • Track record of moving customer or business outcomes, not just shipping features.
  • Comfort with regulatory and compliance work (PCI, financial policy, data governance, PII) as part of product decisions.
  • Comfort holding a portfolio of unfinished bets across two spaces without forcing premature closure.
  • Active and curious use of AI tools in daily work (schema/SQL generation, research synthesis, analysis, etc.).
  • Crisp written communication skills, capable of writing one-pagers that influence stakeholders.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and working in a small, focused team structure.

Nice To Haves

  • Direct experience shipping payments, billing, or subscription products.
  • Direct experience as a PM for a data platform, analytics team, or experimentation platform.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric (OneLake, Data Factory pipelines, lakehouses, semantic models).
  • Deeper Power BI fluency (semantic models, DAX, workspaces, deployment pipelines, row-level security, adoption strategies).
  • Experience running or leading a data platform migration, especially into a modern lakehouse / medallion architecture.
  • Experience in a two-sided or three-sided model where financial operations touch multiple personas.
  • Familiarity with common tooling in financial services and data platforms.
  • Experience partnering closely with finance or accounting business units on product decisions.
  • EdTech or travel background, particularly with group-based financial transactions.

Responsibilities

  • Own two adjacent problem spaces: Financial Services (payments, payment plans, refunds and chargebacks, group billing, financial aid, third-party financial partnerships) and Data (data quality, pipelines for reporting and personalization, self-serve analytics, instrumentation for experimentation).
  • Own product strategy for the Microsoft Fabric migration and Power BI analytics surface, defining 'good' for internal data consumers and prioritizing the migration for incremental value.
  • Manage the full discovery-to-outcome loop, including customer definition (families, schools, internal teams), problem identification, solution experimentation, learning, and iteration.
  • Partner daily with dedicated engineering pods and shared collaborators (design, research, data engineering, finance, compliance).
  • Ensure cross-space sequencing, recognizing when the data foundation must be solid before financial services outcomes can be achieved.
  • Manage a portfolio of live experiments with explicit hypotheses, success thresholds, and kill criteria.
  • Achieve quarterly outcome targets related to financial metrics (e.g., payment success, chargeback rate) and data metrics (e.g., data self-service response time, data quality SLAs).

Benefits

  • Comprehensive health benefits: medical, dental, vision, life, AD&D, accident, critical illness, disability insurance
  • FSA/HSA options with employer HSA contributions
  • Generous 401(k) match
  • Generous paid time off: 11 paid company holidays, 25 PTO days (first year, prorated)
  • 1 paid volunteer day
  • 4 mental health days
  • Bereavement leave
  • Professional development support: up to $5,250 annually for tuition reimbursement
  • Up to $1,000 for certifications annually
  • Opportunities for paid and discounted travel
  • Flexible work schedule (on-site, remote, hybrid)
  • Employee Resource Groups
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and wellness resources
  • Paid parental, caregiver, and disability leave
