About The Position

The Orange County Registrar of Voters (ROV) is seeking applicants for the Data Entry Technician (Extra Help) position. These are temporary/seasonal positions that will support the Voter Data Services Department. The role involves using a keyboard or data entry terminal to input alpha and numerical data, reviewing documents for accuracy and completeness, extracting and coding data, verifying voter affidavits and signatures, and making corrections to voter information. These positions often require overtime, including evenings and weekends, and will be filled on a continuous basis until the agency's needs are met. The ROV is responsible for conducting elections, verifying petitions, and maintaining voter records for the County of Orange, a large voting jurisdiction in the United States.

Requirements

  • Ability to use a keyboard or data entry terminal to enter alpha and numerical data.
  • Ability to understand the procedures and regulations governing the areas of assignments, the terminology and documents used and apply that knowledge to the specific operations of the office.
  • Ability to key data at a rate acceptable for the position.
  • Ability to review documents for completeness, accuracy, and consistency with procedures.
  • Ability to extract data from documents and coding for entry using information codes.
  • Ability to verify affidavits of new or re-registering voters daily under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to key corrections to voter information to ensure the most updated information.
  • Ability to verify signatures on petitions, registrations, and returned VBM ballots.
  • Ability to proofread inputs and ensure accuracy.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Proficiency in current computer systems and programs as well as modern office practices and procedures and the operation of equipment.

  • Possession of a valid California driver’s license, Class C, and a clean driving record while employed in this classification might be required by the date of appointment.
  • A driving records check consisting of a Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) check will be conducted to verify the clean driving record.
