About The Position

Incumbent serves as Part-Time Data Entry Clerk for Community Corrections, responsible for entering data into a computer program, providing clerical assistance to department personnel and assisting the public. The position requires a high school diploma or GED, working knowledge of standard office procedures and terminology, and the ability to operate standard office equipment. The role involves entering data such as test results and class attendance, assisting department personnel, and periodically performing receptionist duties. The job also requires effective communication skills, the ability to manage multiple tasks amidst distractions, and maintain confidentiality.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Working knowledge of standard office and terminology, and ability to apply such knowledge to a variety of interrelated tasks.
  • Ability to properly operate a variety of standard office equipment, including computer, printer, telephone, fax machine, and copier.
  • Ability to work on several tasks at the same time, and complete assignments effectively amidst frequent distractions and interruptions.
  • Working knowledge of standard English grammar, spelling and punctuation, and ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing with co-workers, other County departments, attorneys, and the public, including being sensitive to professional ethics, gender, cultural diversities and disabilities.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions/directions, and appropriately respond to constructive criticism.
  • Ability to competently serve the public with diplomacy and respect, including occasional encounters with irate/hostile persons.
  • Ability to comply with all employer/department personnel policies and work rules, including, but not limited to, attendance, safety, drug-free workplace, and personal conduct.
  • Ability to work with others in a team environment, and maintain appropriate, respectful interrelationships with co-workers.
  • Ability to provide public access to or maintain confidentiality of department information/records according to state requirements.
  • Ability to occasionally work extended hours.

Responsibilities

  • Performs various data entry and various clerical functions as assigned or needed including test results, and class attendance.
  • Assists other department personnel as assigned or as needed, and periodically performs duties of the Receptionist in his/her absence, such as answering the telephone and managing the department lobby by greeting visitors, reviewing documents and/or asking questions to determine purpose of call/visit, responding to inquiries, providing information, directing to proper location or staff, taking messages, or directing/transferring to appropriate individual or department.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
