About The Position

Peraton seeks a Data Engineer to support the Department of War Cyber Defense Command (DCDC) with defensive cyberspace operations and AI/ML security support. Based in Fort Meade, Maryland, this role is part of the Analytic Development Team and focuses on designing and implementing data infrastructure, pipelines, and integration solutions for DCDC analytic capabilities within Caspian and JCRS-D environments.

Requirements

• Minimum of 8 years of experience with a BS/BA, 6 years with an MS/MA, or 3 years with a PhD; high school graduates with 12 years of experience and associate degree holders with 14 years of experience will also be considered.
• Proficiency in Python, SQL, and Scala.
• Experience with Spark, Kafka, and the Hadoop ecosystem.
• Knowledge of data modeling and warehousing.
• Understanding of streaming architectures.
• Experience with cloud data services.
• U.S. citizenship.
• DoD TS clearance with the ability to obtain or maintain SCI clearance.

Nice To Haves

• Cloud platform certifications.
• 5–8 years of specific experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field.
• Extensive experience applying React 18/19 best practices to refactor legacy React 16 code.
• Strong foundational skills in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
• Understanding of common web vulnerabilities, including XSS, injection, DoS, ReDoS, and clickjacking, to ensure security compliance during refactoring.
• Experience using Flux CD and Kubernetes to deploy applications and GitLab for security pipelines.
• Experience with Node.js and Express.
• Experience with MarkLogic, particularly using xQuery to search, query, and manage database data.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement ETL workflows using Airflow, NiFi, or similar tools.
• Develop data transformation logic to ensure schema compliance.
• Integrate data from IoT streams, APIs, and legacy systems.
• Implement data validation and quality checks.
• Optimize pipeline performance and reliability.
• Maintain data lineage tracking and documentation.
