About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Data Department Manager to lead our data function in a fully remote environment. This is a senior, player-coach role combining hands-on technical ownership with team leadership and executive engagement. You will manage a small international team, oversee production data systems, and serve as the primary point of contact for data across the firm. The department is established and operational—you are not building from scratch, but rather leading, improving, and scaling what already exists.

Requirements

  • Strong hands-on SQL and data architecture capability
  • Ownership mindset for live production systems and integrations
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to executive stakeholders, including the CFO and firm leadership
  • Proven ability to manage and develop team members across experience levels
  • Responsiveness to business-critical requests within U.S. Eastern Time hours
  • Advanced SQL and BigQuery proficiency (ability to write and debug complex queries independently)
  • Experience working with Salesforce or similar CRM data
  • Demonstrated experience managing or mentoring team members
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage C-suite stakeholders

Nice To Haves

  • Google Cloud Platform experience (Cloud Run, Artifact Registry, APIs)
  • Experience with integration tools (Zapier, Boomi, or similar iPaaS platforms)
  • Background in legal, professional services, or compliance-driven environments
  • Experience managing distributed or international teams
  • Exposure to telephony data platforms (Zoom Phone, CallRail, or similar)
  • Familiarity with legal case management systems

Responsibilities

  • Own and optimize data models, SQL queries, and reporting pipelines in Google BigQuery
  • Oversee the live CRM sync between Salesforce and SmartAdvocate (Zapier + Python); diagnose and resolve integration issues
  • Maintain the firm’s profitability dashboard and manage P&L-to-QuickBooks data alignment with the CFO
  • Monitor Google Cloud infrastructure (Cloud Run, Artifact Registry, API integrations)
  • Generate complex reports including case listings, KPI trackers, and referral/co-counsel analytics
  • Support telephony data systems (Zoom Phone, Uvoice), including reporting and residual migration tasks
  • Lead and develop three international direct reports; onboard and mentor a new junior analyst
  • Own the departmental request pipeline: intake, prioritization, stakeholder communication, and timelines
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide structured feedback and compensation recommendations
  • Manage vendor relationships (Salesforce, Zapier, Zoom, Uvoice) and represent the firm in external discussions

Benefits

  • Commensurate with experience and location
