Data Consultant – Azure, Databricks & Power BI
About The Position
Pyramid Consulting is seeking a Data Consultant to support a healthcare client in a remote U.S. contract role lasting at least six months, with long-term potential. The consultant will partner with business stakeholders to understand challenges and requirements, then develop data solution designs, conceptual architectures, implementation blueprints, roadmaps, and documentation. The role advises on Azure, Databricks, data lakes, enterprise data platforms, data modeling, data integration, governance, and analytics needs, while collaborating with Power BI and engineering teams to ensure proposed designs are feasible and aligned with business objectives. The consultant will also evaluate generative AI tools, including Microsoft Copilot, GPT-based tools, and Claude, for analysis, documentation, productivity, and solution exploration. The stated pay range is $55–$60 per hour. Traveler benefits may be available under the agency package and vary by vendor and assignment.
Requirements
- Experience in data consulting, business analysis, data solution design, data architecture, business intelligence, or a related discipline.
- Strong understanding of Microsoft Azure and Databricks within a modern data ecosystem.
- Experience with or a solid understanding of Power BI and Power Automate.
- Knowledge of data lakes, data integration, data acquisition, and enterprise data platforms.
- Understanding of dimensional modeling, relational databases, data structures, and data management concepts.
- Ability to gather business requirements and translate them into actionable data solution designs.
- Understanding of system integration points, data flows, and dependencies between platforms.
- Familiarity with data quality, data governance, data catalogs, and metadata management.
- Experience using AI tools such as Copilot, GPT/ChatGPT, or Claude for analysis, documentation, or problem-solving.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, analytical thinking, and presentation skills.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts and solution alternatives to nontechnical business stakeholders and engineering teams.
- Experience supporting enterprise data platforms or cloud-based analytics environments.
Nice To Haves
- Familiarity with Power BI semantic models and reporting data requirements.
- Experience documenting solution architectures, technical blueprints, or future-state roadmaps.
- Exposure to data governance, metadata management, or enterprise data catalog solutions.
- Experience collaborating with product, business, data platform, and engineering teams.
- Familiarity with generative AI applications in business analysis and technology consulting.
Responsibilities
- Partner with business stakeholders to understand challenges, gather requirements, and identify data-related opportunities.
- Translate business requirements into data solution designs, conceptual architectures, and implementation blueprints.
- Recommend ways to use Azure, Databricks, data lakes, and related data platform technologies to address business needs.
- Advise on dimensional modeling, database concepts, data structures, and transforming raw data into business-ready information.
- Identify appropriate data sources and define how data should be acquired, accessed, integrated, and consumed across systems.
- Advise on data cataloging, data asset onboarding, metadata management, data quality, and governance requirements.
- Collaborate with Power BI teams to understand reporting and analytics needs and recommend data models and source structures.
- Identify opportunities to use Power Automate to streamline workflows and business processes.
- Evaluate AI tools, including Microsoft Copilot, GPT-based tools, and Claude, to support analysis, documentation, productivity, and solution exploration.
- Present alternative solution approaches, explain technical trade-offs, and communicate recommendations to business and technical stakeholders.
- Develop solution roadmaps and documentation supporting long-term data platform capabilities and business objectives.
- Work with engineering teams to make designs clear, feasible, and aligned with business requirements.
- Support integration planning for transactional systems and other platforms that depend on enterprise data.
