Data Collection Manager, Nimble Brain

Nimble RoboticsSan Francisco, CA
$120,000 - $180,000Onsite

About The Position

Nimble Brain turns real-world operational data into the training sets, evaluations, and feedback loops that make our robots smarter every day. That data comes from our data collection sites: teams of skilled operators performing and recording the physical tasks our superhumanoids learn from, shift after shift, at high volume and high quality. We’re looking for a Data Collection Manager to own one of those sites end to end. This is the top operational job at the site: you run the floor. Operators, supervisors, shift structure, hiring, onboarding, throughput, uptime, safety, morale — if it happens at your site, it’s yours. This is a hands-on, floor-first leadership role. Success looks like a site that ramps fast and runs like clockwork: new operators certified and productive in days, quality feedback acted on within 24 hours, rigs up, people showing up, and a bench of supervisors you developed yourself.

Requirements

  • 4+ years leading hourly operational teams of 20+ — including managing through shift leads or supervisors — in warehouse/fulfillment, manufacturing, production, BPO, or comparable high-throughput physical operations.
  • A track record of hiring and onboarding at volume: you’ve run hiring waves, working interviews, and the first-90-days retention battle that follows.
  • Metrics-driven daily management — you run your floor from a dashboard and a walk, not a gut feel.
  • Experience with direct performance management, including the hard conversations when someone isn’t meeting the bar.
  • Floor-first presence: this is an on-site role, and the job happens where the work happens.
  • High agency and comfort with ambiguity in a fast-paced, high-growth environment — your site may double while you’re running it.
  • Alignment with Nimble’s values: relentlessly resourceful, humble, dependable, and committed to legendary impact.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in robotics, AV, motion capture, or AI data collection operations.
  • Experience launching a new site, line, or facility from zero — greenfield ramp experience is directly transferable.
  • Experience being accountable for quality and throughput simultaneously (not just one).
  • Multi-shift and multi-site operations experience.

Responsibilities

  • Own daily site operations end to end: collection throughput, quality at the source, rig uptime (with on-site technicians), safety, attendance, and team morale.
  • Build and lead the supervisor layer — roughly one shift lead per 8–12 operators — and design the shift structure (including evening shifts) that maximizes rig utilization.
  • Hire at volume in partnership with recruiting: run working interviews, make offer decisions for operators and supervisors, and manage the pipeline through ramp waves.
  • Run onboarding and training reps that get new operators to the certification bar fast — no one collects production data before passing it — and own time-to-certification as your ramp metric.
  • Execute the operator quality feedback loop on the floor: act on operator-level quality scorecards within 24 hours through coaching, re-certification, or performance management. Quality standards are set centrally; making them real at your site is your job.
  • Own and report your site’s metrics daily: accepted episodes per operator-hour, rig uptime, attendance, 90-day retention, time-to-certification, and safety.
  • Manage attrition proactively — this is repetitive, precision work, and keeping a high-performing hourly team engaged is a core skill of the role.
  • Feed what you learn into the site playbook: this is a template role, and what works at your site becomes how we launch the next one.
