About The Position

Cloudflare is seeking a Data Center Strategy team member to improve the quality and unit cost of its colocation sites and Points of Presence (PoPs), grow their size and number, and identify where its infrastructure should expand. The role requires broad industry contacts and the ability to navigate local and international markets to secure favorable deal terms. The successful candidate will improve vendor portfolio efficiency by structuring contracts to align with demand, using market insights in negotiations, and managing relationships to determine where to invest and build partnerships. The position calls for someone who can progress multiple projects in parallel, manage changing priorities and numerous stakeholders, and implement and refine sourcing practices in a high-growth environment. The Data Center Strategy team is part of Cloudflare’s global Infrastructure Strategy team, which grows and manages the company’s global data center and PoP footprint. It supports Cloudflare’s growth with compute, network, and data center infrastructure through a broad range of global vendor partners.

Requirements

10+ years of experience planning and managing data center footprints within a fast-moving enterprise technology organization, cloud services company, software company, or colocation company.
Ability to multitask and manage complex projects across multiple teams and geographies within set deadlines.
Ability to navigate challenges, solve problems, and answer questions with minimal supervision.
Relationship management experience and excellent communication skills.
Demonstrated experience in commercial negotiation.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

Nice To Haves

Experience with rack, site power, and white space planning (data center sales engineering).
Experience with or understanding of network concepts.
Experience in budget planning, financial analysis, or another analytical role.
Experience with Jira.
Multilingual ability and/or experience living, working, or conducting business in another country.
Sale-leaseback, joint venture, or PPA/power-procurement work.
Existing relationships with developers, wholesale operators, brokers, or utilities.
Experience with high-density or liquid-cooling site constraints.
Knowledge of network considerations such as fiber diversity, latency, and MMR.
Experience with government incentives or economic-development agreements.
Knowledge of another language.

Responsibilities

Define regional vendor strategy for data centers.
Own deals end to end with new and existing data center vendors and sites, including planning, RFPs, commercial negotiation, and execution.
Work cross-functionally with legal, operations, capacity planning, network strategy, and security teams to understand requirements and project timelines.
Establish and conduct scheduled QBRs and other vendor management activities with top category partners.
Represent Cloudflare credibly to external partner C-level senior management and at public conferences and events.
Serve as an expert point of contact for internal business customers and external colocation partner vendors as needed.
Contribute information to the annual data center budget to support effective tracking and benchmarking of infrastructure costs.
Review colocation spending and invoices for management approval.
Perform other duties as assigned.
