Data Center Solution Architect

GE Vernova
•$147,700 - $246,000•Remote

About The Position

GE Vernova is growing its data center business and delivers power solutions from generation to GPU for large-scale AI data center projects. The Data Center Solution Architect serves as a technical advocate and customer-facing authority for hyperscaler and colocation data center opportunities, staying current on architecture trends and tradeoffs, particularly the transition to 800V DC architectures. The role develops and maintains campus power reference architectures and designs, leads technical discovery with customers, supports proposals and power system studies, and works with product teams to validate new designs. It also provides internal training, represents GE Vernova in industry standards organizations, builds case studies and reference designs, and shares expertise in data center infrastructure across its lifecycle. The position is remote, requires travel of up to 30%, and may require access to U.S. export-controlled information.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field from an accredited college or university.
  • At least 10 years of relevant data center power train architect experience at a hyperscaler, colocation provider, or top-tier OEM supplier, with extensive hyperscale experience.
  • Willingness to travel up to 30% of the time, including locally and internationally.
  • Personally designed, peer-reviewed, and/or operated or maintained electrical systems for at least one hyperscale AI training campus of at least 500 MW.
  • Experience with AC/DC power train and distribution architecture, especially 800V DC.
  • Experience with medium- and low-voltage switchgear, distribution architectures, and equipment.
  • Experience with medium- and low-voltage UPS systems and solid-state transformers.
  • Experience with battery energy storage systems.
  • Knowledge of source/load power quality issues and ways to resolve them.
  • Experience with system TCO and design tradeoffs.
  • Awareness of relevant Open Compute Project, Nvidia/AMD, IEEE, NEMA, UL/IEC, ASHRAE, and Uptime/TIA standards, protocols, and practices.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening.
  • Ability to obtain U.S. Government authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information, if applicable.

Nice To Haves

  • Based in a major U.S. data center market, preferably in the Pacific Time Zone, especially the San Francisco Bay Area or Seattle.
  • Real-world experience with Uptime/reliability standards and compliant implementations.
  • Experience with grid and islanded/microgrid architectures.
  • Experience with infrastructure facility monitoring, telemetry, and AI training and inference workload profiles.
  • Exposure to facility cooling and liquid cooling at the rack.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a grid-to-GPU power train technical architect for hyperscalers and colocation data centers, with knowledge of industry migration to 800V DC architectures.
  • Act as GE Vernova's primary customer-facing technical authority for AI training campus and hyperscale data center opportunities.
  • Develop and own campus power reference architectures, including single-line diagrams and power system designs for data center archetypes using GE Vernova products.
  • Lead technical discovery sessions with hyperscaler data center engineering teams, documenting power requirements, site constraints, and competitive install base.
  • Author technical proposals and power system studies, including load flow, fault analysis, and arc-flash studies, in support of RFP responses.
  • Collaborate with the NPI/PM team to validate new product designs against customer power systems, including system design, sizing, and integration.
  • Conduct quarterly minimum internal technical training for the COE BD team and BU sales on data center power architecture.
  • Represent GE Vernova and drive its standards in OCP, Nvidia, and other relevant organizations in a joint role with the Standards Liaison.
  • Build and maintain a library of data center customer case studies and reference designs for proposals and marketing, and help generate competitive analysis.
  • Serve as a center of competency for data center infrastructure design and operations/maintenance, considering the full lifecycle, and disseminate knowledge within GE Vernova's technical community.
  • Guide roadmap development, optimizations, and TCO planning and analysis.
  • Travel, particularly within North America and the EU, as well as other locations.
