About The Position

AWS Infrastructure Services is responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure, ensuring the cloud runs smoothly. This involves supporting all AWS data centers and the associated equipment for servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling. The Critical Projects Implementation (CPI) team specifically manages construction activities within operational data center spaces, focusing on critical infrastructure improvements to optimize space, power, and cooling utilization. These projects go beyond standard construction delivery and routine maintenance. The Data Center Project Manager will act as a technical resource within Amazon data centers, contributing to a creative and efficient team focused on designing, building, and operating these facilities. The role requires oversight and review of electrical, mechanical, controls, and architectural disciplines, with a need to identify areas for improvement and act on data. Candidates should be able to design, develop, and deploy innovative solutions for operational challenges, working both independently and within multi-disciplinary teams. Project scope includes improvements to electrical, mechanical, fire detection, and building automation systems. The Project Manager is accountable for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control, and completion of projects, ensuring alignment with company strategy and goals.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of construction or project management experience
  • 3+ years of vendor management experience
  • 3+ years experience managing projects in data centers or comparable critical infrastructure in an operational space. Comparable critical infrastructure experience is defined as a facility that includes a 24/7 emergency backup system, manufacturing facility (semiconductor, auto, medical equipment or Clean rooms), Mass Transportation (freight or passenger rail), Oil and Gas, Utility, Hospitals or similar industry.

Responsibilities

  • Project oversight and review of all disciplines including electrical, mechanical, controls, and architectural.
  • Identify areas for improvement and act on data provided from other teams and organizations.
  • Design, develop, and deploy innovative solutions to address operational challenges.
  • Manage construction activity within operational data center spaces.
  • Manage critical infrastructure improvement projects to optimize utilization of space, power, and cooling within operational data centers.
  • Oversee projects including but not limited to the improvement of electrical, mechanical, fire detection and building automation systems.
  • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control and completion of specific projects ensuring consistency with company strategy, commitments and goals.
