About The Position

Data Centers are mission-critical environments supporting global enterprises, financial systems, and public infrastructure—where uptime is non-negotiable. As a Manager, Critical Facilities Engineering, you will lead the overall operations, maintenance strategy, and performance of critical infrastructure across the site. This includes full ownership of reliability, safety, compliance, and team leadership, ensuring operational excellence in a 24/7 environment. This role combines technical depth, operational leadership, and strategic oversight, with responsibility for delivering high-availability outcomes across electrical, mechanical, and cooling systems.

Requirements

  • 8–12+ years of experience in critical facilities, data centers, or mission-critical infrastructure
  • Strong expertise in electrical and/or mechanical systems (UPS, generators, HVAC, power systems)
  • Proven experience managing teams and leaders (supervisors/engineers)
  • Experience leading operations in a 24/7, high-availability environment

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CDCP, electrical/HVAC licenses)
  • Experience in large-scale data center or colocation environments
  • Familiarity with NY/NJ regulatory, safety, and compliance standards

Responsibilities

  • Own the performance, availability, and reliability of all critical facility systems
  • Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance across: Electrical distribution systems, UPS, generators, ATS/STSCooling infrastructure (CRAC/CRAH, chillers)BMS / EPMS monitoring systems
  • Ensure rapid response to incidents, minimizing risk to uptime and customer impact
  • Act as the primary escalation point for critical events
  • Lead, develop, and manage a team of supervisors, engineers, and technicians
  • Drive a culture of safety, accountability, and operational excellence
  • Oversee hiring, onboarding, performance management, and workforce planning
  • Build bench strength through coaching, training, and succession planning
  • Define and execute maintenance strategy to optimize asset lifecycle and uptime
  • Leverage maintenance data, trends, and system health insights to improve reliability
  • Ensure adherence to maintenance standards and inspection quality across the team
  • Drive continuous improvement and standardization initiatives
  • Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and performance expectations
  • Oversee infrastructure upgrades, capacity expansions, and commissioning activities
  • Ensure execution aligns with approved MOPs, SOPs, and change management controls
  • Ensure full compliance with Equinix policies, EHS standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain site-level documentation including asset records, maintenance logs, and operating procedures
  • Lead audits, safety programs, and risk mitigation strategies
  • Partner with Data Center leadership, customers, and cross-functional teams
  • Provide reporting on site performance, incidents, and operational KPIs
  • Support customer installations and ensure infrastructure readiness
