About The Position

AWS Infrastructure Services is responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure, ensuring the cloud runs smoothly. This involves supporting all AWS data centers and the associated equipment. The Critical Projects Implementation (CPI) team specifically manages construction activity within operational data center spaces, focusing on critical infrastructure improvements to optimize space, power, and cooling. This role is for a Data Center Project Manager who will serve as a technical resource within Amazon data centers, tackling challenges in designing, building, and operating these facilities. The Project Manager will oversee and review all disciplines including electrical, mechanical, controls, and architectural, identifying areas for improvement and acting on data. The role requires the ability to design, develop, and deploy innovative solutions for operational challenges, with projects including improvements to electrical, mechanical, fire detection, and building automation systems. The Project Manager is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control, and completion of projects, ensuring alignment with company strategy and goals.

Requirements

• 5+ years of construction or project management experience
• 5+ years experience managing projects in data centers or comparable critical infrastructure in an operational space (defined as facilities with 24/7 emergency backup, manufacturing, Mass Transportation, Oil and Gas, Utility, Hospitals, or similar industries).
• 5+ years in on-site construction trades (mechanical, electrical, general) Vendor Management.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, project management, construction management or similar technical focus
• 5+ years of electrical or mechanical, or 5+ years of data center engineering experience
• Ability to work proactively and independently, meet deadlines, and deliver on projects and tasks
• Demonstrated ability to understand and discuss technical concepts, manage trade-offs, incorporate feedback, and evaluate opportunistic new ideas with a variety of internal and external stakeholders

Responsibilities

• Project oversight and review of all disciplines including electrical, mechanical, controls, and architectural.

• Act on data provided from other teams and organizations.
• Design, develop, and deploy innovative solutions to address operational challenges.
• Manage trade-offs, incorporate feedback, and evaluate new ideas with stakeholders.
• Manage construction activity within operational data center spaces.
• Execute critical infrastructure improvement projects to optimize utilization of space, power, and cooling.
• Ensure consistency with company strategy, commitments, and goals for project execution.
