About The Position

AWS Infrastructure Services is responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure, ensuring customers have continual access to innovation. This role is part of a diverse team of engineers, specialists, and security experts who collaborate to maintain the highest standards of safety and security while providing capacity at the lowest possible cost. The Data Center Security Specialist will support security programs within data center facilities, manage projects to protect personnel, customer data, and critical infrastructure, and oversee onsite security forces. The role requires a strong understanding of physical security standards, processes, and requirements, with the ability to operate independently, manage projects, prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment, and communicate effectively. The position involves managing physical security operations, developing post orders, defining procedures, handling incidents, working with security equipment, participating in construction projects, driving process improvements, and managing vendors. The specialist will ensure consistent deployment of security policies, participate in audits, test new technologies, and drive operational security excellence across multiple facilities. This role demands flexibility to adapt to rapidly shifting priorities and a proactive approach to identifying and rectifying security gaps. The specialist will interface with and direct vendors for security construction, repairs, daily operations, and patrols, analyze data to observe improvements, and make recommendations for electronic surveillance and access control systems. Additionally, the role involves educating data center personnel on false alarm reduction, writing and implementing security processes and procedures, and reporting on the status of physical security operations to management.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of overseeing security operations and working with security vendors/contractors experience
  • 2+ years of project management experience
  • 3+ years of process improvement procedures experience
  • 3+ years of vendor management, or 3+ years of relevant discipline work experience
  • Resilient leadership skills
  • Flexibility to work in dynamic environment
  • Exceptional knowledge of security practices
  • Strong written and verbal communication

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent, or 5+ years of security service, loss prevention, asset protection, investigations, or law enforcement experience
  • 2+ years of root cause analysis and troubleshooting or problem solving experience
  • 2+ years of work in identifying security issues and risks, and developing mitigation plans experience
  • 4+ years writing detailed reports
  • Familiarity with security program automation, implementation and various Access/Intrusion Control Systems
  • Ability to interpret program objectives, develop project schedules and manage adherence to established timetables
