About The Position

As a Data Center Technician III, you serve as technical resource responsible for troubleshooting and resolving complex hardware, infrastructure, and connectivity issues within the data center environment. You work independently to diagnose and repair server hardware, support system uptime, and execute critical infrastructure deployments. In addition to break/fix responsibilities, you perform structured cabling installation, routing, termination, labeling, testing, and validation in accordance with company and ANSI/TIA standards. You support rack integration, equipment installation, device connectivity, and infrastructure readiness activities while ensuring quality, accuracy, and compliance. You provide technical guidance to junior technicians, maintain thorough documentation, and help drive operational excellence throughout data center migration projects.

Requirements

  • Hands on server hardware maintenance experience, including diagnostics, installation, troubleshooting, repair, and replacement of physical components to ensure optimal system performance and uptime.
  • Experience supporting rack and stack activities, server deployments, and data center infrastructure projects and migrations.
  • Basic to intermediate networking knowledge, including TCP/IP fundamentals, storage technologies, and device connectivity troubleshooting.
  • Experience performing structured cabling activities, including routing, termination, labeling, testing, and documentation of copper and fiber infrastructure.
  • Ability to validate installations, troubleshoot connectivity issues, and execute quality assurance processes in accordance with company and ANSI/TIA standards.
  • Ability to perform advanced hardware replacements, repairs, and diagnostics.
  • Experience with rack integration, device installation, and cable management best practices.
  • Understanding of structured cabling systems, including copper and fiber infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of data center cooling systems and power distribution.
  • Basic Linux/Unix command line experience.
  • Experience with ticketing systems, asset tracking, and technical documentation.
  • Ability to perform network troubleshooting and connectivity validation.
  • Experience testing and validating infrastructure installations and cabling systems.
  • Ability to interpret rack elevations, installation drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Strong understanding of operational procedures, change management, and quality standards within data center environments.
  • Associate degree in an IT-related field or equivalent professional, military, or technical experience.
  • 2–4 years of experience in data center operations, infrastructure deployment, structured cabling, or related technical environments.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while supporting project teams and mentoring less experienced technicians.
  • Must be able to work on your feet for extended shifts in a data center environment.
  • Must successfully pass through metal detection equipment daily.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Standing and walking for extended periods.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work at heights.
  • Ability to adapt to varying temperature conditions within the data center environment.
  • Must be comfortable working in confined spaces when necessary.
  • Ability to follow required security and access control protocols, including metal detection screening.

Nice To Haves

  • Industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Server+, Certified Network Defender, BICSI, or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience supporting enterprise, colocation, hyperscale, or mission-critical data center environments preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex server, hardware, cabling, and infrastructure issues.
  • Perform structured cabling installation, routing, termination, labeling, testing, and validation in accordance with company and ANSI/TIA standards.
  • Support rack build-outs, equipment installation, rack integration, and device connectivity activities.
  • Conduct post-installation testing and quality validation to ensure infrastructure readiness and compliance.
  • Execute hardware upgrades, replacements, and preventive maintenance activities.
  • Support installation, staging, labeling, inventory verification, and site preparation efforts across deployment projects.
  • Maintain accurate asset records, testing documentation, and operational tickets.
  • Escalate critical issues appropriately while helping identify root causes and corrective actions.
  • Provide technical guidance and knowledge sharing to Level I and Level II technicians.
  • Promote safety, operational excellence, and adherence to established data center procedures and standards.
