About The Position

Empower AI is seeking a Data Center Operations Specialist for an exciting opportunity at the Department of State. This role is responsible for the operations supporting the hybrid VPC and global network infrastructure for the customer. The specialist will install, troubleshoot, and configure servers, blades, APCs, storage, and backup systems. They will also manage on-site computer workstations, monitors, laptops, printers, and scanners, and handle software package installations, patches, upgrades, and antivirus management. The position involves inputting trouble calls into the Service Now tracking system, recommending closure of tickets, and replacing basic system components. Coordination with vendors for warranty replacements, preparation of computer equipment for shipping or turn-in (including hard drive sanitization and palletizing), and support for computer labs (ensuring operational status of computers and printers, loading paper, replacing cartridges) are also key responsibilities. The role includes supporting system and database administrators, assisting with disk cloning, restoring backup systems, and participating in the disaster recovery team for the data center, including operations and training exercises. Applying security upgrades and patches as instructed, and providing summaries of completed trouble calls and updates to management are also required.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience
  • Associate's degree or equivalent experience
  • Secret Security Clearance

Responsibilities

  • Install, troubleshoot, and configure servers, blades, APCs, storage, and backup systems in the data center.
  • Install and manage on-site computer workstations, monitors, laptops, printers, and scanners.
  • Install and configure software packages, routine and emergency installation of patches, upgrades, antivirus software, anti-virus signature files, and upgrades.
  • Input all trouble calls into the Service Now tracking system and recommend closure of trouble call tickets when actions have been completed.
  • Replace basic system components within the data center.
  • Coordinate warranty replacement of components with vendors.
  • Prepare computer equipment for shipping or turn-in, including sanitizing hard drives and palletizing equipment.
  • Support all computer labs to ensure all computers and printers are operational, to include loading paper and replacing printer cartridges.
  • Support all system and database administrators as needed.
  • Assist in disk cloning and be able to restore backup systems.
  • Be part of the disaster recovery team for your data center in both operations and in training exercises.
  • Apply security upgrades and patches as instructed.
  • Provide summaries of trouble calls that have been completed when requested and updates to management personnel as necessary.
